Has anyone else made the trip in their Scooby?

Went last year in my home built track car and planning on going again in the summer but in the Impreza this time.

Only issue that bugs me a little is fuel, since iv owned it from around August last year i have only ever put Shell V-Power or Tesco 99 in it as we all know

Problem i have is going to be doing a 500ish mile trek in each direction, now i know my car is thirsty, not defending that at all (specially as i love boost and the autobahn) but if it runs out say going through France or Belgium i guess im stuck with crap fuel until i hit Germany? Im thinking at best i will come across is 97/98 Ron in france

Even filling up at Dover i know they only have a BP garage at the port

Can i run the car on this for a few hundred miles? Take some jerry cans of the good stuff? Whats everyone else done? Any advice would be great

thats an idea, didnt think of that, hmm was worried someone would say they only do 98 at the ring

How much do you think i should take bottle wise if im driving there, doing a few laps and driving home

Sound like a proper noob but i have never even touched octane booster before, do you chuck a whole bottle in before you fill up i take it?

We went to the Nurburgring as part of our Euro trip last year, as said above take a few bottles of ocatane boost and you'll be fine. Two of us are going back over for late May bank holiday weekend, looks like it's going to be a busy one.

I was adding a fully bottle per tank, I took around 12 last year but we did over 2600 miles in 8 days and I brought a few back but we did come across quite a few places selling V Power on the trip.

You can get 102ron called Vpower racing not too far from the ring.

Shell V-power is RON 98 fuel.
They will sell RON 98 fuel in France don't they?


And when you're driving on the highway you're not pushing the car. It would be no problem driving on RON 95 fuel I guess.

And around the nurburgring they have RON 98 and RON 102 fuel. Just search for an Aral fuel station.

normally i would agree but on the highway we are in a big convoy of at least 10+ cars.....lets say we sometimes get carried away and the cars do get a little pushed

Cool, yeah that'll see you ok fella. Not sure if you've read about the new pricing structure that is coming into force by the new owner but I've played it safe and ordered a 25 lap Ring card at last years rate. It'll very interesting to see what's planned in a few months time.

no not heard about the pricing structure, whats the new rates? only managed 3 laps last year when i went, the weekend was so busy and lots of rain plus accidents, although did get a quick sprint on the F1 circuit next door which was nice, by my god it hammers your brakes lol

lol this is the only downer of having my scooby thus far being limited to 2 fuel stations, having to download an app to tell you where shell and tesco garages are just to get somewhere

plus the convoy im going with are all fairly fuel efficient compared to me, im obviously going to be the main reason for fuel stops this year

Petrol station in Adenau (Just by Eddys hotel) is BP 102octane

I filled in folkestone with v-power, nipped to Spa on route and just made it there on that tank and the again in reverse on the way home

The Shell at The Port of Dover had been knock down in September last year when me and Jay did or trip. There is a TESCO just off the M23 in Ashford that does Momentum .

we went for a 6 days last time, but had loads of stuff on, tobaganing near Adenau, went to Nurburgring centre, went to the Technick Museum 2hours away, Michael Schumacher Go-kart centre

this time going friday 1st May, sat and sunday on the ring, as many laps i can get in, monday bank holiday come home

I have heard that some don't really do a lot & are a waste of time.

Cheapest way is through Belgium. No motorway tolls.
Shell V power in Belgium is 98 ron
You pay before you fill up
NF Octane booster is the best. Tests have shown this. I get mine from RCM
Speed limit 130kph

You can do it on a tank.
V power in Germany is 100ron and is better than our V power. So your car will be safe on its current map.
Aral sells 102ron. But I always stick to V power as that is what my car and yours I guess was mapped on.

You will need to stay legal -
High vis vests
Warning triangle
First aid kit
Small fire extinguisher


A bit of a pain. But once you have the above kit. you can drive anywhere in Europe and it is pretty useful stuff to have anyway.

Satnav that shows speed cameras is a grey area in France.
Small Breathlisers (Although the French are confused as to how to enforce this)

If you are going to put your foot down. Take 1000 Euros cash.
If you get caught they can take your car. Drive you to a cash point get you to take out the money. Loads of Hassle and expense ect.
Less pain. Is this - Its a fair cop. Whats the fine.That will be 670Euros please. Pay them at the roadside. And off you go.

Go with South East Scoobies every year and most of us use the Aral in Adenau (by Breidscheid bridge) which has BP 102. Scoob loves it, despite not touching BP in the UK.

VPower Racing is 100 ron but not seen it anywhere close to the Ring, closest I've found it is Cochem.

We fill up with VPower at the Shell services on the M20 J11 before heading over the channel. Then stop in Belgium (after Brussels) and use Vpower 98 with a bit of octane booster, job done. As mentioned, you have to pay before filling, or use the card machines by the pumps to activate your pump number then fill up.

Via Luxembourg as petrol is far cheaper, at least it was when I last went a couple of years ago, and you should be able to get there and back to blighty on a tank full each way. I don't think it's too far out of your way and there's a Shell on the main road down from Belgium not too far over the border.

....and phones although not sure on the legality of them checking your equipment but who's going to argue?

Apparently, it's illegal not to have the breathlisers but there is no penalty for not having them! However, if there's a chance of being dragged off to nearest police station with all the inconvenience, etc it's not worth the risk for the sake of a few quid.
Last year, I bought one of those electronic breathalysers but because they are not E rated, or whatever, I also borrowed a couple of sticks from a friend just in case.

Sorry I didn't know that in the UK V power is ron 99 fuel. But the difference between 98 and 99 is so small. How can a car mapped for 99 brake down while pushing at 98? Don't see that happen really. That the V power in Germany is 100 is a big plus for you guys.


Around the Nurburging you got a Aral fuel station in Adenau. They sell 102 fuel. (should be the best for the v power mapped cars)


Cochem isn't a option to go for. That's 40km from the Nurburgring and not the effort to go for fuel. I'm always around Cochem when I'm at holiday.


So you guys are planning to go at the first of May? That should be interesting to keep in mind

Main problems in past was paying for it.

Didn't like UK cards and didn't understand French
