Looking to buy a new STI and need some advice
Hi all
i will be looking to purchase a new STI in the coming months and need some advise. I am fairly sure i have decided upon a late widetrack blob eye STI or a sti hatch but i cant make my mind up on which to go with.
ive owned a wide track blob eye uk ppp before and so im not sure i would want the same car again but i am tempted in a JDM version. is it worth the extra cash?
or do i go with a newer car and get the hatch, how bad are the engines? i read lots of horror stories but am wondering if i get it remapped if it will be ok? a friend has had an 08 plate for around 3 years and had no problems!
or
Is there a better Scooby to get that i haven't thought about. Ultimately i would like to tune it to around 400/400 but i haven't really set a budget.
any thoughts are much appreciated

If you want 400 out of the box then the cosworth cs400 about 30 grand second hand

2.0 is better for tuning (on standard internals) ran mine at 470 with no problems
2.5 which are found in the UK hawk and hatches won't reach 400 on standard internals and a forged engine would have to be built or sourced

If you ever read any 2.5 story and look into it the car has either been mapped, modded or been heavily used on track days
If you are wanting the 2.5 and would be looking in at mods budget for forging the engine or putting the money to the side for the time you do need a rebuild and then forge it
