Default tyre valve

Hi all. Got a weird one. my rear tyre keeps going down about once a week (only happened twice) but now the tyre won't take air from the compressor at the garage. I've tried two and both are the same. Does that mean the valve is faulty? It's been ok for about a year can they just go like that?
TIA for your help.

Push the pin in and see if it moves, or if it's bent to one side. Be careful though they can snap easy. If it's faulty they do screw out to replace. Or just pop into a tyre fitter, I'm sure they'll tell you what's up.
