Default Best STI front seats?

Hi all, considering a set of STI fronts for the Wagon. Which ones are the best? The car will be getting occasional track use going forward, but will be mostly used on the road.

It's a Blob Eye, so front seats have airbags. I'm under the impression that only Hawk STI seats come with airbags. Is that right?

I really liked the seats in my old Spec-D, but the STI ones with the hump in the middle look like they will hold the driver better.

Can anyone confirm that?

blob sti seats dont have airbags, the best fitting ones are bug sti. hawk and blob are not as tight fitting.

what you really want are spec c version as they arent the awful chavvy blue colour.

Well the car is blue so I can live with blue seats

Blob seats don't have the hump bit do they?

Think I'll try and get some Bug seats but most of them are probably knackered by now!

Must have been two kinds on the Blob then.

What's better about the Bug seats?

Bug seats are a tighter fit than later versions (also depends on how big your **** is). I fitted v8 seats in to my bug wagon and they're definitely not as snug. Iirc the bug wrx and sti seats are the same in all but colour and if you need a pair of bug wrx seats mine are getting in the way!

I actually thought that the bug WRX seats were the same. I had a set that I have just sold on because I decided that if I was going to have mismatched seats I'd rather have the proper STI ones.

I happened to think they felt superb to sit in.

So that's what I will try and find. Frayz sold his judging by the thread.

The bug seats have deeper and firmer bolsters on the seat base, I prefer the blob and hawk STi seats

Why do some have the black hump bit and some don't? Did they do different seats for JDM and UK?

I'd vote for bugeye STI seats. They have a much better shape, the later seats sort of lost that Recaro'esque shape to the top of the seats and went a bit shapeless. Also the bugeye seats have a detail I like with the stitched ribs on the blue to the on the sides.

These pics illustrate what I mean about the bugeye shape being better. The shoulder wings are far more defined.

The later seats here lose the shape a bit IMO.

The bugeye seats look like a proper sports seat designed that way, like the classic seats. The later seats look like a stock crappy seat for fatties in the states with a bit of extra stuffing to give the impression of being sporty

I have the same seats as the above bottom set in mine but mine are full leather which is nice, they don't hold me in like my old Astra leathers but then again I'm only small, they'd be a lot better for a larger person.

Are all the STI seats shaped with the hump in the middle, just some aren't highlighted black, or are some seats actually flat instead of having a hump?

If I see the ribbed pattern on a set of seats, are they shaped with the hump whether it's black or blue?

Some of the blob seats have a blue hump in the middle and some have a black hump, the ones with the pattern in the shoulder area have the blue hump as do the ones in my blob.

just so your aware, the seats in the top pic hold you better but on a long journey arent the most comfortable of seats as my **** and back hurt after say 2 hours of driving, the seats in the bottom pic are less hugging but more comfortable on a run.

I think the wider seats were invented for the fat American market.

OK great. So if I see a set of seats with the shoulder pattern, they are Bug seats and they definitely have the hump, be it blue or black? They are definitely not flat in the middle like my WRX seats?

It makes a difference in how the seat feels.

No it doesnt, the best seats are bug ones due to tighter fit,the rest are almost identical and the hump does nothing.

Based on the Bug WRX seats I've sat in. The ones that are the same shape as the STI seats.
