I'm from Jersey and this weekend it has been the Jersey rally. This popped up on my news feed from a friend. Hope he and the car is ok!

Yes he's fine, he had to retire from the Rally though.

Think it's been a bad year for retirements. Several cars went off on the same corner

Brakes worked fine as the 50 yd skidmarks prove lol , 6th gear crest into a 2nd gear 90 right , way too fast into it !

Quite a lot of damage , inner bays bent up as well , so needs a new front end and a jig , snapped a bottom arm so put us out of the rally , was up for this weekend as well , but that's rallying.

For the uneducated , this is a proper ex-works Prodrive built car , as used by Juha Kankunnen on the 1999 Monte Carlo , so comes with 365mm Alcon discs and AP 6 pot calipers as per the homologation , at the end of the day though not even a parachute would have helped lol

Got the bits to fix it , engine and box has to come out for a rebuild now so will send the shell into the body shop to be jigged and resprayed , should have it done for a shakedown in pembrey between Christmas and new year , need to fix my other 2 rally cars in between after rolling my Clio and my son blowing my golf engine up on rally day !

It's ok, you got off lightly compared to some!

What did you think of the rally?

The rally is good , done it 4 times before , been coming over to do it or spectate for about 10 years now , always good to do closed road events.

Glad, you've walked away from it. Gary Lineker would have trouble going down some of those narrow roads on a skateboard!

You weren't listening, caution 2 right tightens long. Even I got that! Listen to your co-driver, that's what he's for.

I wear a hand device , have done for 8 years , I won't rally without one , this nav doesn't , but will now ! This was only his second rally with me , not sure if I've scared him off , I wouldn't sit with me lol.

The note was actually 6 right long over crest , into double caution 2 right , the long should have been swapped for slowing , easy to say now viewing it over and over from an armchair , but on the recce seemed right , but that's one of the attractions of rallying , it's not just about being able to drive , it's a team event , driving off notes , not racing driving round and round the same track.

It doesn't get any better than closed road rallying , unless your in a hedge !

I laughed at the swearing.

No wonder you're sore, quite a big off.

I got that bit right, bet he would be better if he had to pay for fixing the car.
I'd sack him if I were you.
Or maybe your having problems finding people who want to be your co-driver, given your recent history, I wonder why.
