Double Din Radio Replacement
The previous owner replaced the radio for a cheap aftermarket sat nav/dvd radio, to fit it he has cut the heater surround to make it bigger to install the new double din unit.
Is this common practice to have to do this, as I want to replace it for a DAB double Din (Kenwood), and want to know if this will fit into a non adapted heater surround or for all double din installation you need you need to cut the surround about.
Don't want to get a surround to find out its not needed as I would need to adapted that one too.

I haven't had to cut the surround to get my Kenwood double DIN in or out, even with fitting other double DIN units it fit perfectly.
Might be that the unit was a larger one than the space supplied or the previous owner had something else below the unit and cut it for that very reason.

I was going to fit a car bluetooth unit. Cost circa £150 installed. Saw a Double Din DVD player with Bluetooth and touchscreen - Bought it.
Had to negotiate the console surround (as depicted). Now have new touchscreen stereo with Bluetooth for answering calls and streaming music for £110. Didn't like the OEM stereo (which I still have kicking around).
Not to everyones cuppa tea, but suits me.
