"Running in your engine"

How many miles should a Impreza do before you "LASH IT AROUND A TRACK" for example. Heard a lot of different opinions. I reckon about 8'000 miles but then again I am not a scooby expert yet.

8 to 10k should loosen your engine up nicely and you should be running a nice fully synth oil by then too
Most say that for the first 1k dont exceed 4k rpm and after that add 500 rpm for every 500 miles, but its up to the owner at the end of the day.

Its got 2'000 miles therefore I will not exceed 5'000rpm. Nice one, help is appreciated. What oil should I use before 8k miles where you said I should be using Fully syntheteic?? Shouldn't a STI with 2k miles be using fully synthetic anyway??

I ran mine with fully synth from 1k but some say to run semi synth for a few k miles first (had shell 5w30 in to start with) never had any probs and the car now has 23k on it.
Most people will use either mobil1 15w50 motorsport, movul 15w50 castrol rs (i think) 10w60 or millers 5w40 (all are fully synthetic).
Check out some sites that sell said oils like www.scoobymania.co.uk as they also do octane booster which comes in handy as an additive to running SUL or Optimax for your car (97ron and 98.6ron as greys need 100ron)
