Default Classic or Newage?

If you were to sell your Subaru to buy another, would it be a classic or newage? (depending on what you could realistically afford).

Have previously owned a few import wrx sti's (classic shape) and we're not bad cars, but now have a wide track sti blob eye shape and a wrx wagon blobeye as a everyday car, and think I prefer the newage shape over the classic , but I know some people prefer the classic,

Never driven a newage but i know the there abit more refined, plus there heavier cars and wrx's run same bhp as classic's which is insane as its heavier, plus as standard cars prefer classic's for looks, most people have said to me they think my shape is the best

Of course i've seen some amazing newage Impreza's but the've had alot of work done to them. My vote goes to classic but i will end up getting newage as classics rust away

I've thought of a better poll which would give better results but it's too late to change it now

1. Sell classic to buy classic
2. Sell classic to buy newage
3. Sell newage to buy classic
4. Sell newage to buy sewage

That would have been better.

Have both like me

Only newage I'd have is the S202 which I have.

I loved my two classic's, I will probably never love a car like my first scooby again , thats probably why it takes me 5mins to get past a pic of yours but just to old a car for ME now.

newage or noage.

There's an absolutely mint S204 still for sale here in the UK and the asking price is now below £20k afaik.

For all the people on here who rave about it, noone's putting their money where their mouth is.

Both like me.

Daily driver Blob Wagon PPP, weekend toy, trackdays and sprints V3 type r (if I ever get it back on the road)

If I could only have one it would have to be a classic wagon with all the trimmings, might do that yet, or the Blob wagon at 450bhp choices choices.

I am on the fence with this one as I like both Generations, but if you bent my arm it would have to be a 3 door type r or what I own now a blob STI.SJ.

I'd also add it depends on what you want the car for and your level of skill as a driver.

Newage flatters ones driving ability IMO, it doesn't take a particularly good driver to be reasonably quick in one, lift off the gas a little and it will straighten it'self out.

Classic on the other hand is far less forgiving of ham fisted drivers especially the Type r, throwing one down the road in maximum attack mode using all it has requires a certain amount of experience and ability, also keeping one on the road can be a challenge sometimes, you need to be on it and totally aware of what it is your actually doing and what effect it's going to have on the car, setting it up for corners and correct line is more important especially when it starts to move around under braking and acceleration, lift off the gas and you better have fast hands or lots of road.

Classic for fun newage for daily is my take on it.

Classics have been my car of choice, had 4 of them. Sadly the last one made me move away to a more "old man" type car.

I'd go for a classic for looks and a newage for daily.

To be honest this isn't a fair test, as i think most would prefer the classic, but with very few low mileage examples about, people rightly opt for the newage impreza's, i have 2 classic's one daily driver other weekend, when daily driver goes want sti classic is i can find a decent one or will move to newage

So far the results seem quite equal. It's defiantly going to be a 50/50 debate with no sure winner.

I have had 4 classics now and if I was to get rid of this one, I would get something different, but no doubt I would come back to a classic (like I have done 3 times before) And my classic is a low mileage one

Bloody hell they are aren't they

Personally if i was going to by a second scoob it would be as a weekend toy, at which point it has to be a classic because that's what got me into Imprezas in the first place.

Wouldn't mind a Hawkeye (do they count as newage?).
Can only afford a classic. But I am very happy with my '98 STI.

Taking only the 'wow factor' into account (that high you're on in the first week or 2 after buying it) I'd have to say newage (Hawk).

Never thought I could beat the feeling of my first, a 97 UK 2000 but I did, with a 95 WRX, then did it again with an 05 Hawk (granted, a JDM).

Re a few other posts it's like comparing a Sopwith Camel, Spitfire, Starfighter, Lightning and Eurofighter in a way.
Can do a lot more when technology's helping you out, far less chance of pilot error (and of course at those levels of performance it's almost impossible to fly it yourself anyway).

First Scooby was a classic and I miss the raw feel of it, my current car is a blob sti and I love it, doesn't feel as quick as my classic (that will change early September when she's getting modded and mapped) but the handling is better along with the build quality and overall feel of the car but I'm a Scooby fan in general (like most of us) so any Scooby will do me lol.

Having owned a 5 classics and 3 newages, I dont think I would ever go back to a classic unless I was using it only as a track car or doing sprint competitions etc, then the lightweight classic is perfect.

But for my needs as a fast everyday car that I can use anytime then it has to be a newage every time!!

I'm on my 3rd classic, i would easily buy another one, and much prefer the look of them. I always wanted an RA or Type R, but couldn't quite stretch that far, but hopefully one day i'll have one! 22b is a dream and i know for sure something i will never own.

My current V3 STI is great, i use it every day, and find it easy to live with. Only thing that i find annoying is it doesn't have a clock lol! But at the same time thats one of the reasons i love it, no gadgets to distract, just pure raw preformance that puts a smile on my face and is fantastic to drive. The fact that it can put a lot of modern cars to shame is great considering how old it is. For me classics have and always will be the best looking Impreza. Having said that i do like the Bugeyes now, not sure why because at first i hated them - they have def grown on me. In white/gold combo they look amazing!

For a track car, a Type R Classic...for everything else, a Newage.

Time has moved on, and newages perform as well with a certain level of refinement.

If I could afford it, id even be tempted with a Hatch just to try, but it would need to be a twinscroll, and they are too pricey pour moi

Quite fancy a hatch STi twin scroll next, but would look like i will have to import one myself, been checking the jap auctions at the moment to get a idea of the prices and they seem to be at a reasonable price compared to the UK spec you get over here!!!

Got to be white though!!!

I agree! Two white ones please with Recaro interiors.

Shall we get a container, split the cost?
