Is every using the std Subaru jubilee clips for the boost hoses or have you up graded to the good stuff?I find when I come to tighten my jubilee clips they just snap with wear and tear

 

Standard TMIC etc? Jubilee clips will be fine.

What clips are you all using from the intake on the turbo compressor housing.and is the hose from throttle body to top mount intercooler known for failing

Hi do you think the mikalor clamps are a must round the throttle body area.And does the std jubilee clips have to be super tight on the throttle body hose or just casualy tight

 

Thanks for the link. Been doing a bit of research and there seem to be so many different types of hose clamp to choose from. These look to be quite reliable.

 

Watch the hose between the IC and throttle body, as they can fail then chuck rubber into your engine. I have just recently changed my oe one out for a nice Sti silicone one. Take it off and have a look at it, they are multi layered. If the layers start coming away from each other bin it and replace.

 

Mines fine for the moment but it's on the list to be replaced. Where did you buy yours from?

Mikalor clamps are bulky and don't seal as easily or well as jubilees. I ran jubilee clips on my car with 2.0 bar of boost and no dumpvalve with no probs at all. (No dumpvalve is important to this as the boost pressures and shock loads are much higher without a dumpvalve when you close the throttle on boost- obviously)
They will only break if over tightened.

Bit of a mix and match of hose clips and blue silicon city there 👍

 

No need for Murray clamps on inlet/water pipes etc although they would look nice, and my FMIC came with blue silicon pipes, so I may as well stick with that colour. The rest of the intercooler pipe clamps will get replaced in time.

Meh, it's still the fastest 1/4 mile car on SN running 380cc injectors, to the best of my knowledge.

 

Can't beat the OE spring clips for most things, easy to use and very reliable. Plus they look very factory.

 

Apart from when the oriental ******* that assembled the engine fit them so they are inaccessible without removing any amount of stuff to get at them.

 

Vag use spring clips too, way easier to use than ones that require a screwdriver or socket. I like them, after all there is a good reason that oem use them

 

OEM is often a cost cutting exercise/compromise.

 

Not on critical components on the cooling system it's not. This is a subaru not a fiat we are talking about
