Thumbs up Stealing fog light covers...

Became victim to this yesterday, outside my house as well.

What tips are there for preventing thieving scum doing the same when I buy a new set?

Was thinking of zip tying them on but may look rubbish.

It's a hard one is that,as their is only so much you can do to protect your car unless it's out of site parked in a Garage.SJ.

Sorry to hear this buddy, why do people mess with cars?

Are you able to park it in a way that that front of the car is really close to wall or another car so that space is restricted at the front, making it more difficult?

Hopefully its a one off, but you never know. Another thing to consider is have you had a quick walk around the area sometimes these idiots remove things 'just because' and then dump them in a hedge down the road worth having a look see.

How are they held on? I've never had any, but if there are screws, could you replace them with security types?

Possibly mischievous kids wanting to see if yours is a WRX faking it? On the Blob you can use double sided tape to secure them but it's over kill. I'd look on Ebay to see if they appear? Otherwise, in the vicinity? I can't believe a lowlife with a WRX would steal them for his car but you never know. Any particular scratches or markings on them?

You could try some Torx or hex headed screws.
May put of the casual scum bag.

c*nts

if you get more and they are to be a permanent fitting then rivet them on with alloy rivets. if the car is black, you can get black anodised ones. if not paint the heads of them so they wont stand out so much.

but it will of course mean drilling the new covers and your bumper

Noooooo Your only down the road from me!!!

Had problems 10 years ago with my classic, used to have the front end of my car stolen(front grill, crystal headlights, sidelights, indicators, fog covers) happened 3 times, in the end I had enough and got rid of the car.

Personally I think you must be a tramp to steal of another persons car!! Lets just hope who ever stole your fog lights dies in a house fire!!!

They only clip in via the slits and moulding. Only real way is to super glue them on, but then you run the risk of them damaging your bumper. These sell for anything up to £100 so they're easy money. They used to sell out of the dealer network for £37 each painted, but suddenly the prices went up

Hope the scum get there just deserts.

Got a pir sensor on my drive, linked to an internal chime. Catches the odd pedestrian walking past but goes mad if someome steps on the drive.
Is your car on the road or driveway?, not much you can do if on the road.

Just watch out for a return visit, my mate had his blob set nicked then the second set went a week or so after being put on.

Had a pillar cover nicked, I've never stole off an Impreza though.

In Horbury I was always having stuff nicked off my car so I'd steal it back but only from cars in Horbury.

Once I even did a preemptive tax and put a Laguna Splitter on my Escort.

Same happened to me mate, nicked my fog covers from my car right in my driveway! Ended up paying 120quid for a bumper just to get the covers again.
I tend to take mine off at night now, pain in the ****, but saves them getting nicked again! !

Is there any way of getting to the rear of the screws that hold them on?

if so you could use nyloc or aerotight nuts so that they cant be removed with just a screwdriver.
but if there are holes for screws then maybe rivets will do the job.

we use some at work that splay out into 3 prongs so they cant be pulled out. if you pm me your address i can send you a few

Don't I know it Stu..........

I had mine nicked three times off my STI over a 3 year period......... cost a fortune to get replacements........ ended up super glueing them in and never had any problems from then onwards till I sold the STI a year or so ago....

Thats the thing, no tools needed, they just pop on and pop back off, as easy as that! That's why they're so easy nicked!
