blob wrx 2.1 stroker build.....
just thought i would start a project thread on my car to keep everybody updated in one place.
ive had my blob wrx around 16 months now,i swapped it for my civic type r with a member on here,2 months ago the car was driven into and the driver drove off leaving me with 2 badly dented/scraped doors/front wing/rear quarter.side skirt and rear wheel.
i sort of lost interest in the car due to this and almost ended up breaking it but the insurance have decided to pay for the repairs and im putting money on top to the garage so it will be getting a full respray along with some sti style skirts
i have invested too much time and money into the car to let it go to waste so its time to man up and deal with it.
the car big ended back in june this year which has left me with a spare scdb to use so that will be being built into a 2.1 stroker using parts sourced from the states (real street performance) im unsure which rods/pistons i will be using at the minute but leaning towards manley rods with mahle 4032 pistons.
the car is NOT a track car and probably never will be,its my daily driver so altho 550+bhp would be nice i dont think it would be a good daily driver as it will be too laggy-unless somebody know different
liking the idea of a sc42/46 turbo on it to give good spool and plenty of mid-range oommpppffffff altho if a garrett gt30r isnt too laggy i could be tempted with one of these.
the car has some great parts already fitted so im not really starting from scratch
waiting to be fitted is....
hdi fmic
bc coilovers
cdf 3 port catch tank
fuel-lab 3 port fpr
6-speed sti gearbox with r180 diff/rear brembos etc
1st thing 1st is to get the gearbox in as i have sold the current 5 speed to a lad who is waiting for it then its engine building time,im unsure of which heads to use-i would like to use avcs heads but with so many with cracks around the plug holes im not sure its a wise idea,if not i will be using v5/6/p1 heads-either way they will be getting rebuilt.
im toying with the idea of taking the car off the road whilst its being built so i can sell the current engine/intercooler/injectors etc but that means another insurance premium and buying a cheap s**tter for the next 6 months.
any advice folks on this project would be great
parts im looking for soon will be
light-weight flywheel for a 6 speed
800cc injectors
decent spec 6 speed clutch to handle 450+bhp
she currently runs 354bhp + 365ftLbs @ 1.45 bar on a vf35
heres a few pics of the car pre- accident, she was mint and turned heads everywhere she went

Lovely looking car bud, keep the pics and updates going. One good thing with projects is at this time of year you're never short of idea's of things people can buy you. Nobody ever knew what to buy me for xmas/birthdays etc, now its money everytime lol.
ARP headstuds from Realstreet will save you a few £££ as well. Any reason for going V5/P1 heads? IIRC V3-4 have the best cam profile. Have you stripped the SCDB down yet?

i think you can do it cheaper by getting your own used 6 pot calipers from a gt2/3 then get godspeed brakes/as-performance to custom make you some brackets

Nice to see them on a suby tho makes it somehow unique in my eyes.

Yeah, in Germany is a company who machine's brackets for all kinds of porsche brakes but only works with german cars. It surprises me that no one makes those brackets for Japanese cars, i think somebody could make a nice profit out of it. think most company's won't do it because their afraid they sell less new big brake kits.

nothing much to add so far, just ordered some gearbox/diff oil (motul gear 300) for when the 6 speed gets fitted at the end of january.
my current sti8 motor will be having a compression test done tomorrow @ pr developments as it will more than likely be going up for sale soon so i want to know its good for the would-be new owner.
as for the ecu side of things i think i will be going alcatek.

i know the r160 rear diff thats fitted to the wrx can take big bhp and can work with 6 speed boxes just double check the codes-put a post up about it to make sure
i will be using the r180 rear diff as i have the rear brembos aswell
