Default v3 sti project (pic heavy)

ok, here goes, picked this up few weeks ago, head gasket had gone and the chap had started to slowly break it..a mate took me up to see it as i had heard it was some sort of fully forged road going weapon so arrived at his house and it was sat on his drive looking a bit sorry for itself.....

The turbo, front mount and down pipe had been sold to the lads cousin, everything else was there just the front end was all in bits in the boot... i went through the paper work etc and decided i wanted it lol...

ill go through engine work etc when i get the paper work from my garage tomorrow... having spoke to him, it seems like the bottom rad hose had split and instead of replacing it he just cut it down and re-fitted it, im guessing it lost most of the coolant etc and he didnt bleed it properly or something as shortly after it started smoking.... so he said he parked it up.....

so got it home and put the front end back together while it was sat outside the house waiting to go in my garage...

looks good sat next to the corsa to!

i had been waiting for a friend to do the work for me as i was always working the days and trying to see the little one in the nights but he let me down, so decided to crack on with it myself, took it up the garage and myself and 2 mates started stripping it down, big thanks to gareth and the chief technical consultant richard, not long after we managed to get the engine out, after working out how to remove the clutch fork...

so... at the stage now where the heads have been sent off, should get them back friday ready to start rebuilding, changing everything while its all out, belts, stat, clutch etc.... engine bay getting cleaned.

i did manage to get the turbo and fmic back... i will add more tomorrow, its had alot of work in the past, got ruined by a idiot, forged pistons, rods, simtec ecu etc, will put full list up tomorrow... appologies if this seems to drag on..

Have you got any more pics of the wheels? They look like beauts, Swords if I'm not mistaken.

Looking good mate, sounds like the engine is a good foundation to a good project.
