Default Blobeye revamp

Greetings all.

Well I've gone and bought another impreza. I did go and look at other marques such as mitsi and audi, but I am still wanting own a Spec C, with the intention of running a reliable 450-500 hasn't materialised. So in sheer boredom I have bought another Blobeye STI that will be given some tweaks along the way. I will still be keeping one eye out for a nice Spec C though

This is my tenth impreza, which I bought it from a long serving SNet member. It's got a few nice items already on it, and some bad products too which I'll be challenging.

The shell bar the roof diffuser is mint, I've set about this already

The rattling coilovers refresh
New clutch
Front and maybe rear brakes
Wheels to be looked into
Tyres will probably be a set of my Dmack DMT-RC
De-badge
Power upgrades
HT autos Splitter ordered
Hella horns ordered

I'll get some better pictures once I've got time, work commitments are taking priority at the moment, and I'm still knocking back orders for graphics and plates

So a very long day at work today knocked me back a little, but I have arranged for the car to go to a BMW approved local body shop on Wednesday to have the roof stripped and painted

Tubs has offered to de-tango the headlights, and blacken the backs for me, so hopefully I'll get them down to him at the same time it's in the body shop.

I'm hoping to make some legal plates that are less restrictive to the intercooler too, but time is of the essence as I've still a few jobs to do for members on here.

Plan on attacking the trim too when I get chance, or maybe just upgrade to the later blob/hawk, undecided yet as I want to go black rather than silver.

Anyway, pics still needed, but with working 14 hours I haven't had time ;( hopefully tomorrow.

Rob

ive done most of the jobs on your list, no badges on car including debadged front grill, painted interior trim panels black and legal small plate so as not to cover fmic oh and black detango of course.

good luck

good luck
I dont need luck, I just need more hours at work to help pay for all the mods, as doing this wasnt my plan, so I dont want to touch my "Spec C fund"

As soon as I so the car, I thought to myself, a) am I buying to enjoy for a while until I find the car I want, b) put it back to standard, and sell it keeping some of the goodies for the future, c) or bust it entirely. However this car is not a breaker, the bodywork bar the stupid roof diffuser is mint, and I mean very clean. I'm at work now so I can't vouch for sure, but from memory its covered only 3'000 miles in 3 years , and overall its realitively low mileage for it age.

Martin
I dont think its going to be much Martin to be honest, I dont intend on making it anything thats epically going to make folk read the thread with interest and excitement.

Lots of folk have done this many time over over the years, and it become old hat. So without being boring or negative I just want to make it a proper nice everyday car with say 450 useable bhp, and at the end for the car to have cost no more than a total of £8-£8.5k. The car hopefully will then sell when the time is right to an enthusiast for what I have in it, and as such its win win alround.

---------------------------

Splitter arrived the other day, I'll fit it when a few other jobs are complete.

Car is now at the body shop having the roof sorted which was an unforseen cost, but a necessary at the end of the day. £300 worth spent though.

Headlight are going to be removed by the bodyshop for me (simply havent time), and then posted to Tubs. I'll hopefully collect them tomorrow.

Clutch is being sourced, I'm unsure whether to go ACT with matching flywheel, or a twin plate of some description. Yet to be decided, as I dont know what Turbo/power I will get the car too. As said hoping for 450, so a pink box is probably at its limit if the car sees some track action

The Hella Sirens havent arrived yet, but theres no rush for these, as its only a cosmetic thing

Still waiting on mags getting back to me with some prices etc on wheels.

Over and out for now.

Small update, although I'm very pleased with the result.

The roof has now been taken back down to the bare metal and resprayed professionally (hat off to Eclipse motor body).

I couldn't see in the garage, so I had to take the car out, so it's now been rained on

Lights partially removed.

Lights ready to wrapped for Tubs' handy work

Grille refresh is next, hmmmm with what and how yet to be decided.

Plenty to do here.

It's only a ten minute job bud, if you haven't done it already I can talk you through it to make it easier?

Weather permitting its a FMIC colour change day, I'm thinking maybe yellow

Just kidding, satin black will be the colour choice.

Nope, but it's not something I'll be keeping either, so although I don't want to throw dead money at it I'm trying to curb the spend

Clutch arrived
Andrew Carr not got back to me yet
Horns now fitted properly and wired in
Headlights need new bulbs, ordered.

Small update.

Decided that the grill in front of the intercooler looked naff, so I've removed that, but may install another of better quality soon

Also sprayed the intercooler as it looked a little weather, all the fins are perfect, but it had oxidised a little.

As it was.

I prepared the cooler with a light rubbing down.

Primer coat.

Finished with a few coats of Satin Black

I need to cover the sides of the cooler another coat of Satin, as it was difficult to get too without removing the bumper. I'll tackle this later this week.

Also fitted a more "fitting" number plate, looks much better

Pictures took with hazard lights on, I've yet to fit the yellow/silver bulbs, but as I'm going to fit better bulbs all round it can wait until I've bought them all.

I think Tubs is right about the fog cover stickers, so these will be removed next along with the badges on the boot.

I may also look at a trumpet intake for the power upgrades whilst I'm at it.

Also think the horns are a little glary, so I might change these to a more subtle colour. Or move them to a more "out of direct view" location.

Wheels - I'm unsure what to do here, whether to keep the Team Dynamics Pro Race and change the colour, or just change them out for something new, ie Rota Fighters. I'm no longer a fan of gold wheels

Power upgrades are on hold at the moment as I haven't been able to get hold of my mechanic. Andrew Carr is also primed, so it just gives me a little time to ensure I have everything I need to get the car towards the post 450bhp marker with the SC46
