Hi guys.
I'm in the process of fitting a 10 points OMP Bolt in cage and would like to know how do you bolt/install rear legs to the chassis ?

Do I drill the holes through the chassis and than bolt it in with plates from underneath of arches ? Any welding required ?

Best option would probablly be to get the plate and nuts welded from underneath so you can just put bolts through the floor from inside the car into the captive/welded nuts.

More than likely a few ways to do though.

 

Cheers GAZ, that's what I thought but somebody told me that no welding is required with rear legs. Only front and middle ones as need reinforcement plates to be welded.

 

You should have been supplied a fitting kit to go with the cage.
The A Piller and B pillar legs then bolt to the weldin feet that come in the fitting kit.

These weld in feet basically form a box platform that the cage bolts onto.

The tops of the feet have captive nuts that you bolt into.

Once the feet are fitted you can remove or refit the cage as many times as you wish.

The rear diagonals fit straight to the arches you drill holes and then use the strengthening plates (again supplied with the kit) on the wheel side of the arch.

 

Hi. I bought the cage from a member on here so came with no fitting kit etc. I made reinforcement plates myself.
I know what to do and how to install the front and middle legs but wasn't sure about backstays. Do I weld those strengthening plates to underneath of wheel arches or just put them on and bolt everything together ??

Oh, do you know what lenght of bolts do I need ?

I know they must to be M8 and 8.8 grade but not sure about lenght. 30mm would be enough ?

You can weld them on or just fit them. Obviously welding them is the better option. However I just fitted mine and had no issues.

Do you remember at what angle the mounting plates are bent ?
I've just picked plates that my mate did for me and they're 90 degrees. 3mm steel doesn't feel very easy to change this angle :-(
I have a quite big vise so this is my only option I suppose.

 

on the front and centre mounts they're around 95-100deg I recon, sorry didn't have a protractor when I took those pics for you...

according to the blue book you don't need reinforcing plates behind the rear mounts....
sufficient to just drill through and bolt em up! not that i'm recommending this, just saying!
