Default Project Six-One-Six

We have been working for a few years now on building an engine suitable for fast road, track use and hopefully one day soon the Scottish hill-climb championship. The car is a 2002 STI and was previously very effective. The car will hopefully produce ~600 bhp when completed.

This project is now complete, I was unable to update the previous thread due too account issues.

Over at Brian Downies tonight for a fluid and spanner check, so took the opportunity to take some pics of the near finished product.

Brian had an adaptor plate machined so that we could run the Cosworth inlet manifold with a manual throttle body.

Brian Downie was given a blank canvas to source and build a reliable fast road and track car with at least 500 bhp.

The car was set up with a safe map last Thurday, running at 1.5 bar and 5500 rpm max. We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday using the Shell garage at Alford as a refuelling hub. After 500 miles we had an oil change on Sunday at Brian's, then back on the road and another 200 miles covered before bedtime. Just found out tonight that the SIDC day at Alford this Sunday is cancelled... this was the target for having the car on the road. Plan moving forward now is to get 1500-2000 miles on the car then it will be remapped. Provisional plans are to run up to 2.2 bar, thereafter we'll drop in the Kaps 6-speed sequential dog box.
