Swedish STI Type R Version 5 track & weekend racer - lots of pictures!!!
My project has been going on for a while but I decided to start a thread here anyways.
http://www.garaget.org/?car=194946
It all started in early 2010 when i decided to import a car from Japan. I started looking for a Nissan R33 GTR but left that after a while and started looking for a Nissan S15 Silvia instead. Found some interesting cars but one day when I came across the Subaru Impreza STI Type R and I fell in love. I got to have me one of those cars.
After a few weeks I found a great car with the specs I was looking for. A mostly stock car because I want to do all the modifications myself.
Zero Sport catback
Advan Racing RS-G 17" wheels
Tein Super Street coilovers
During the time the car was on the boat I purchased some parts for the car =)..
Hybrid GT2 FMIC
Clear front indicators, side repeaters and sidelights.
Tornade de-cat downpipe.
In july 2010: After 2-3 months the car arrived in Sweden and I got my chance to test drive it for the first time. It exceeded all my expectations, much more fun to drive than I ever could imagine =).
In august 2010: After one more month the Import company(superiorimports.se) had the car registered and MOTed. On the way home I could sadly feel that the clutch was slipping on 5fth gear. So a Exedy Stage 1 organic clutch was ordered and mounted quickly.
I had a mapping with simtek bocked in september but that never happened so in october the car was put in the garage for the winter.
Few pictures before the car was put in the garage
During the winter I bought some new parts for my baby. Starting with a Link G4 PnP
I also noticed that the turbo inlet pipe was damaged so the intake was removed to change the pipe. During the time the intake was of i re-painted it.
I bought a new AEM dryflow filter and some silicone hoses.
April 2011: The parts continued to poring in:
Hardrace engine and gearbox mounts
DBA 4000 discs for the front
Stoptech streetperformance pads.
Momo Tuner stearingwheel
Autometer Phantom
Oil pressure
Oil temperature
Water temperature
Turbo pressure
http://scoobyparts.co.uk/acatalog/BL...SIC-_52mm.html
The new parts was mounted and the car worked perfect. Time for a remap with the Link G4 Pnp.
This is the result after a problem free mapping. I'm using 99 octane Shell V-power.
327 hp / 406 Nm in the engine and 266hp / 341nm on the wheels.
A print screen from the computer using the Link software
May 2011: A oil-cooler was purchased to hold down the temperature.
Some pictures of the current state in april 2011.
June 2011: I got hold on a used(bearly) Sparco Corsa bucket seat and OMP 4 point harness.
August 2011: New pictures from a trackday on Mantorp Park
Fall 2011: The season was coming to an end and the car had work perfect.
Took some new pictures in the nice colors of the fall.
October 2011: The car went in the garage again for a 6 months rest.
During the winter a big shopping list was written for a big update, mostly the chassis.
The final list ended like this:
Killer B Motorsport - Performance Oil Baffle
Killer B Motorsport - High Performance Oil Pan
Killer B Motorsport - Ultimate Oil Pickup
GT Spec Adjustable Lateral Camber Arms
GT Spec Rear Trailing Arm Set
WHITELINE - 24mm Adjustable Front ARB
WHITELINE - 24mm Adjustable Rear ARB
Whiteline 24mm Sway Bar Aluminum Lateral Lock Kit x 2
Whiteline Gearbox Positive Shift Kit
SUPER PRO - HEAVY DUTY STEERING RACK BUSHES - 30mm
SUPER PRO - FRONT ROLL CENTRE ADJUSTMENT KIT
SUPER PRO - Front Control Arm Lower, Inner Front Bush kit
SUPER PRO - Rear Differential Support Bracket Mount Bush Kit
Powerflex - Rear Tie Bar To Hub Rear Bush
Powerflex - Rear Beam Mount
CDF Racing - Anti lift kit
CDR Racing - Rear Drop links
New Age STI Brembo calipers front and rear
Performance Friction 2 piece discs with Godspeedbrakes bells for the fron
DBA 4000 discs for the rear
Performance Friction 01 race pads for the track
Stoptech Street Performance pads for the street
Performance Friction RH665 brake fluid.
Goodridge steel braided brake hose kit
Tein Flex Coilovers
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 7.5x17 street wheels
Rota Tarmac 2 7.5x17" - track wheels
Toyo R888 GG - 215/45 R17 - track tires
One more Setrab Oil-cooler - Now have two.
And then in mars I stumbled upon a 6 speed gearbox + all the other parts needed, for a ridiculous good price so I couldn't resist buying it =)
Pictures of the new parts:
http://www.suspension-bushes.co.uk/
April 2012: The car was taken out of the garage and the new parts was finding their way on the car.
The prop shaft I got with the 6 speed gearbox had faulty rear joint so I had to buy a new one. I found one here on Scoobynet. stealthy55 had a nice low mileage prop shaft.
Got the coilovers mounted and I swapped the camber plates from side to side.
Got the front stub axels and seals for the gearbox. Got them mounted to.
May 2012: Today I washed the car for the first time this season. Snapped some pictures on my way home.
There was a lot of text and images but I hope you found it kinda interesting. The project will go an and the thread will be updated when something new happens. The gearbox is planed to be change in the middle of may for example. And I haven't got my new wheels yet.

Thanks guys. I do the best I can. Next big update on the car after the gearbox will be the engine. But I have to save up to that. I'm looking at 380-400 safe hp.

The cameras that I have been using is Canon 60D, Canon 5D mark II. iPhone 4s. Phase One 645DF with a Phase One P30+ Digital camera back. I've used a variety of optics.
The 60D and iPhone 4s is mine. 5D Mark II and phase one is my brothers. The Mantorp Park photos is taken by Martin "bilbilder.se" and he is using a 5D Mark II.
Behind the scenes picture from the photoshoot in fall 2011. Using my brothers Phase One camera and some flashes. First time for me with this camera and flashes.

Had the car in at lunch for a alignment. It's a little bit fiddly and tight in to adjust in the rear so we only had time for the rear and toe at the front. But we will take the front next week I hope.
Here is the result. The second picture is the alignment last year before all the modifications.
The camber in the rear is a little bit to much compared to what I had planed. The left side had -1.9 when we begun so we only adjusted the right side to match. I will adjust the camber at the front o about -2.1 - -2.2. But I have a nice increase in caster after my modifications. Last year i only had 2.9 as you can see and now I got about 5. I will get a little bit more after next times alignment because I've flipped the camber plates to adjust the camber and caster at the same time.
Translation of the words to english =)
aktuellt - current
före - before
fram - front
bak - rear
vänster - left
höger - right

Got my new rims today after 2 months of waiting but the happiness was short-lived. As soon as I took up the first rim I saw that something was wrong. The color is not gold, it's gold / greenish and the paint is so so thin. The inside is hardly painted at all. Then it has some marks at the edges on two wheels. Have already contacted Revolution247.com where I bought rims and mailed a bunch of pictures.
They would take 3-4 weeks to be produced but after 3 weeks I was informed that three of the wheels had not been approved by quality control. That was ok, even if I had to wait even longer. But I thought that was a sign of that they have a pretty good quality control. That they do not send out any crapy wheels. Apparently I was all wrong, considering how they wheels I got look. So I wonder how the 3 wheels that were not approved for the first time looked like.
I can't understand why they have put some balance weights and the text of the size on the outside of the wheels where you can see it. NOT good.
Look at the pictures and you will see how they look, although it is difficult to get the pictures to show how it really looks like in real life when you look at them.
This is the product picture for the wheels. Big difference right?

Love this project and your photography
ps though I liked your original JDM wheels the best. Team Dynamics are the slowest company at producing anything, they'v wasted my time in the past too I would stick to your original wheels or go for either some other expensive Jap wheels or else get some cheaper Rotas.

Thanks.
Tha advan wheels are sold as they didn't fit over the brembos. I thosed the team dynamics wheels as they look good, seems to be good quality and the didn't cost a fortune. But if I would buy new wheels now I wouldn't have done the same. Maybe I would have bought some Rotas instead.
I'm still waiting for a answer from team dynamics. If they want them back I'm gona insist on a full refund. If they agree with me to paint them I want at least £250-300 back otherwise I will send them back for a full refund and buy some other wheels.

Yeah I hope so to. I did test fit the wheels today and they look great exept the color. So I hope I can get money back so I can re paint them. Then they would be great wheels.
I hate that pale green/gold color.
