Smile MY SCOOBY SO FAR =] - FEEDBACK PLEASE..

Before i start and you get confused, this is my girlfriends account as mine doesnt like to work anymore! Anyway, I thought it was about time i started a project thread up
I brought the car back in March 2009 and it looked like this
I paid £2350 for her.

The car is a v1 1993 import wrx, but was fully rebuilt from a v6 2000 uk turbo. Pretty much everything from the car was transferred into mine, interior, engine, everything. The car has been resprayed in a one off blue, its lighter than the sonic blue but not quite baby blue.
When i went to pick up the car i was really happy with it, i didnt think at 20 id have a scooby so i was well chuffed
After i got the car i started to buy a few bits here and there. I changed the backlights to afterburn lights and (not morettes i know) but i managed to find some quad lights on ebay and won them dirt cheap, so put those on too! I also got a fully opened bellmouth 3" - 2.5" decat pipe and a hks mushroom filter

Not much else to tell really until october 2009 when the car decided it wanted to screw me over a little!! I started getting a ticking/knocking sound come from the engine. Turned out it needed new tensioners (which wasnt such a big deal as i was having cambelt done anyway). At the same time i had the decat fitted.

Everything was running smoothly again for a few weeks then one night i was heading over to my girlfriends and it decided to keep cutting out on me! I ended up sitting on tesco for 4 hours waiting for the RAC to come (fun times). Found out it was the MAF sensor that had gone. Managed to source one off here almost brand new for £70 so got that sorted.
So just as i thought things could only get better, December 09 came and my court date arrived. (stupid me got flashed doing 77mph in a 30 zone, overtaking another car on the wrong side of the road, i do NOT recommend you do this!!!) Just being truthful, ill probably get slated for it i know lol!! Wasnt sure what to expect but ended up with 6 points, a £150 fine and a retest .. got off lightly due to working at stupid hours etc. This happened 2 days before christmas, lucky me eh???

I figured that while i didnt have the car, i might aswell work! so did loads of overtime over christmas, and managed to acquire enough spare cash to buy my plate. I didnt want the usual wrx plate, so when i saw mine i fell in love... H8 EVU. couldnt wait to get the car back on road! I also got brought a williams motorsport front mount intercooler for xmas which i wanted to fit. (although as of jan 2011, it still isnt fitted lol)

My licence came back through the first week in Jan 10, and i managed to get a theory cancellation on the Wednesday and a test cancellation on the friday, I passed both (with only one minor, so i do know how to drive.. im just stupid lol) Was back on the road within 4 days of recieving the licence. (Hello scoob, how ive missed you! )
Again, nothing else really to say as the weather was cold and i couldnt be bothered to do anything with the car lol!!! Until february when i saw some alloys that i wanted. They were in a bit of a state, but were really cheap and only 10 miles from home. I fancied a change as i get bored quite easily! .. I drove over to look at them and decided that it would be a good idea to fit them there what a great idea that turned out to be!

I got less than a mile down the road, and started to hear a very strange sound!! .. my girfriend looked out the window and saw 2 wheel nuts rolling down the road behind us, we thought SH*T, started to turn into the side of the road (at about 3mph!) and the wheel fell right off!!! It got stuck underneath the front wing and completely crushed it, the sideskirt was smashed and the door was dented gutted. As bad as it sounds though, it could have been a lot worse. 60mph down a motorway with a wheel falling off wouldnt have been great
I managed to get back home, stopping every half a mile to tighten the nuts lol. It took well over 4 hours to drive 10 miles!!! A few days later sorted a new wing and sideskirt out. Went down to buy some paint and hit another problem. Its a one off paint, brilliant!! The poor chap worked for his money that day, we had to look through every book to try find a decent match but couldnt find one! In the end he had to scrape a few specs out of the boot and mixed it up his self as well as he could. Fairplay to him though, its a bloody good match!! Got those fitted and we were back on road...with my old wheels :/
One day in March i drove over to stourport, got there and there was water leaking from the bottom of the car. Couldnt really do much there other than fill the water back up. It was a very hot day so thought it may have been the weather as stupid as it sounds!! Couldnt see a leak anywhere. Didnt really worry too much and left her parked up whilst i enjoyed my day .. on the way back going down a dual carriageway i looked down and the temperature was very high, not quite on red but almost there. I parked up in a little side street and spotted a little old lady watering her plants so i hit her over the head and stole her can. Lol, not really. But i asked her for some water and filled up again. I managed to get another few miles down the road and it happened again so i parked up outside a pub and rang the RAC to pick me up! Whilst waiting i went in the pub, as you do a friend of mine had tracksuit bottoms on so they served us, then kicked us out!!!?? snobs! The RAC finally arrived but didnt have a clue so sent for a recovery truck to tow me back. He came, in the wrong truck, and had to send for a flatbed. So more hours waiting...

When i finally got home, i was fed up with the damn car!!! So i parked it up on my sisters front garden and thats where it stayed... for 7 months!!

Nov 10 and my birthday came along, my girlfriend brought me front and rear brembos (i think she missed the scooby, nice hint kirst!)

I must admit, i did miss the car too... but I WANT A SUBARU TYPE R!!! i decided to list the car for sale on here and elsewhere for a while, and did have quite a bit of interest. I really thought my luck was in when i won a white type r on ebay for well below my budget. I called up the seller, and got fobbed off down the phone. First he said his friend had lost it round an island causing rear end damage. Then in a second phone call he said that he crashed it his self, and described damage in diferent places. This didnt make much difference to me, at the price i won it for i still wanted to view it, as the shell was more important to me at the time. In the end i gave up! .. It turned out he sold the car to someone else afterall, there was no damage. The new owner only brought it to sell on, so i then contacted him. At 9am on the morning, we arranged that i would go and view the car 2pm that day. 1pm came and i gave him a call to get further details on his address etc. He informed me that he had just secured a deal over the phone!!! how angry was i!?!? .. i guess that car was never meant to be mine!

Nov 2010 and we were due to go away to cornwall and only had 3 weeks to get something sorted. My visions of driving down in my new type r were scrapped, my only option really was to have the car fixed!! .. so i did. It was the head gasket. So i took it to a subaru specialists, and had cosworth headgaskets fitted along with a few other bits to get it running. £1200 down a month before xmas, nice!

I went out and found some cobra misano s carbon bucket seats which retail at about a grand a seat lol. Sorted a deal out with the seller, he brought them up from London for £470 for the pair, bargain!! .. He's crazy if you ask me, but i got a good deal lol. The seats came on mini cooper s custom runners, which obviously didnt fit the scoob. I managed somehow to cut them up, and reweld them so i could use the original subaru runners! dont know how i did it, probably could never do it again.. but its done lol!

Didnt think the seats would be ready on time for our trip to cornwall, but several hours in pitch black freezing cold weather and a bit of patience, we sorted it (thanks dad lol).

So we headed out on our 250mile trip to cornwall. For the first 50ish miles, everything was fine. Then i started hearing a screeching sound come from the back of the car. I should have known something would happen! .. we were on our way to pick up a carbon fibre bonnet (2 birds, 1 stone ) .. so i went there first, got that fitted and carried on to find a garage. Several places werent willing to do it on the same day, which was useless to us as we were hundreds of miles away from home. We finally found somewhere willing to do it straight away, ( if im honest, i think they just liked the car cos they took a car off the ramps that they were working on, just to do mine LOL) .. it turned out my rear calipers were stuck on ever so slightly, and they had worn the pads right down. (they needed changing soon anyway, but there was more than enought left to get us to cornwall and back).. somehow, ive ended up with 2 different calipers on the back. Would love to know how, when i brought the car they were both the same. Very perculiar. Anyway, because of this i had to buy two sets of pads, and new dics. More money!!!

The rest of the week away went great, the car run brilliantly, the weather stayed fairly decent for november, and we had a lovely break. Until the day before we were due to come home. My girlfriend found a new love in some fudge in st ives, so we drove down to stock up before we came back lol. On the way back from the fudge shop, just after i came off boost i heard a really loud BANG. all power cut, the most i could do was 15mph. Not good at all with 250 miles to travel home. After several hours of waiting, and several changes (service station to service station) through the night, we managed to get home!

Once i had caught up on my sleep i gave matt a ring (mattybr5) and explained what had happened. I knew he broke cars, so guessed he would help me out with whatever parts i needed to get the car fixed. Found out during the phonecall that he now works for a subaru specialists, Pole Position, Willenhall (highly recommended if you are local). He told me that the turbo had gone, and sorted me out with a new one, 15,000 miles, £60 ... its good to know people . They got it fitted and got me back on the road. Since then so far i havent had any more problems with the car.
Christmas came, and the car behaved itself. I also FINALLY got the flocked dash that i brought in november that my spiteful girlfriend wouldnt let me have til xmas cos she paid as a present!! Managed to get the bottom half done in blue, well chuffed!!

Jan 2011 and i have only just recieved the bottom half of my dash, due to ridiculous weather and lazy couriers. Took it to Pole position to get fitted, and got my front brembos done at the same time, (still need to get adaptors for rear and keep forgetting!!) .. I dont currently have brill pictures of the dash, but it looks ace. The only pic i have at the moment is one that was took on the night i picked it up (below).

Managed to sort out a set of morettes on here for £200, which is really reasonable as they are in absolute mint condition and original boxes! Just in the process of having them sprayed black, so they will be on the car shortly! After some hids as i only want to run outer lights and use inners as an induct.

Will get new pictures of the dash shortly. Also, will sort out some pictures of the seats and add them to the thread. .. My mission for now is to complete the interior flocking, and sort out the rear seats to match the rest of the car. Then engine work will start, watch this space

Below is the most recent picture of the car, the alloys are not staying.. they are currently the only ones i have that fit my brembos lol! Im after some rota grid drift in black, so if u read this and u have some.. pm me!!!

Way ott in my opinion, I wouldn't be caught dead driving that, you might aswell get a neon sign saying "I'm a boy racer, and I LOVE the fast and the furious"

Nasty.
