My 400 horse race machine
well i after read countless amounts of projects its my turn to build a fast car for road and track.
i have been saving and collecting parts for a long time and now with a little help from a friend my car should be ready by the end of september.
Anyway, this is the plan and where i am upto now.
i plan to build a engine that is capable of producing 400bhp, and a unique time attack styled bodykit.
parts i have so far...
2006 EJ20 block
brand new rear thrusted crank
eagle rods
over sized wiseco pistons and rings
1.5mm scooby clinic metal head gaskets
ACL race bearings
V5 STI heads
MD321T
555cc injectors
super drager 3" exhaust system
apexi power fc --- but not sure if i should use something else??
arp bolts
exedy racing clutch
exedy light wieght flywheel
GGR race oil pump
mocal oil cooler
autobhan FMIC
SARD fuel regulator
now there are a few things i still need...
new rad.
not sure what fuel pump to use as i want to use the car on the track and road.
and im researching fuel rails too.
I am running the standard gearbox at the moment. i do have plans to upgrade to a 6speed setup
one of me rods the rest are one the crank.
bag of gaskets and seals
well this is where i am up to now, i hope to have other parts i require this weekend and the engine complete by next friday.

Nice project.
When mine was restricted to 400 Bhp I found that to be a nice power level for an every day car.
Problem:
There are a few of us on here that have, or have had a "genuine" 400Bhp, the problem being you may well get use to it, and want more!.
Answer:
Bare that in mind throughout your build, other wise you may find yourself buy certain things twice.
All the best with it mate.

got the block together this weekend. however, i have hit a small bump in the road. i am not sure what to do with my inlet.
should i reverse it? and if do what are the bennifits from doing so?
and is it a smiple case of just turning it around?
o and fuel rails... can someone explain to me what the aftermarket ones provide in the way of performance. as i have larger injectors and have been told that i will need different fuel rails.
thanks

As Skullfudge says there are few genuine 400bhp scoobs out there but those which are, make superb road cars (saying from my own experience of having owned a 422/400), especially those who have a nice Torque. VVT heads give the added advantage.

Big BHP is a mugs game.... stick with 400bhp and don't be tempted for more. It costs an expodential amount of cash for heartache and a few smiles along the way. If you want a 500bhp car that will start first time every time and will only want for normal maintenance..... get a 911 Turbo.
