Default Zen 2009 development

Following on from our build up of a the car which as a thready didn't get finished, I would like to get some further info up on the car showing what we did towards the end of last year when we won Brands Hatch Time Attack and cam 3rd overall at TOTB. And then try and get some stuff on line about what we will be developing on the car this year to run a little later on.

A few things to wet your appetite while i sort pictures and hosting etc.

Flat floor and diffuser - on the car at brands, further development in 2009
Suspension development - developed over 2008 and 2009
Dry sump kit - developing full kit for retail due june 2009
Less weight - try and shed up to 70kg over the course of 2009
More power - target 800hp without nitrous
Wider power band - avcs cosworth heads and cosworth cams, cosworth intake manifold, individual throttles.
Engine tweaks - Cosworth internals to solve a few minor niggles from 2008
Solaris ECU - full lambda control, knock control, datalogging etc
More E85 development - fuel system tweaks.

Good stuff Paul looking forward to reading it.
No cloak and dagger mysteries this time though the suspense over the colour was just too much last time around

I am currently working on a new website, just for the car

http://www.team-zen.co.uk

At the mo, there is a small amount of info but loads and loads of build and event pics from last year, many of which have not been published before!

As stuff happens, we will blog about it on there, so please subscribe to the blog (quicklink on the right hand side of the blog), that way you will get emailed when we add anything new

On the off chance you are on Twitter, you can also follow us on there, ZEN Performance (TeamZEN) on Twitter

Thanks to Duncan for technical help and hosting

Cheers!

So, the ZEN rollercoaster has been in full effect!

We decided to do a full year of Time Attack... on the 31st March! Nothing like leaving it till the last minute

That gave us just about 3 weeks to build the car back up, from a point where it had - no engine, no brakes, no ECU and no wheels. It proved to be a very tall order, with just about everything coming together in the last week and the car running for the first time at 6am on the day of the first round on April 25th.

We didn't make it to Oulton till the qualifying, which we managed, with just 2 timed laps. But it just wasn't meant to be and the untested car threw a few little niggles at us, enough to leave us with no chance to put in a full timed lap in the final.

You can't keep a good team down though and we have been working hard most evenings to get the car ready for Knockhill on May 17th...

You can read every single detail of the blood, sweat and tears on: http://www.team-zen.co.uk

There is tonnes of write up on the build process, an event report from Oulton and what we have been up to since - including my favourite thing that happened this week, delivery of the uber lush and sexy RAYS wheels! There are also many, many photos, although no large sized ones as yet because I haven't found the time to upload them! Should get to that this weekend. You can subscribe to the blog, so everytime new content is added you will get an email. You can also add your comments to the blog, which is most welcome. Team ZEN are not big budget, but we are big on passion and we really want to share the lows and highs with you on this!

In the meantime, to whet your appetite, here are some photos and the spec list as the car is right now....

Cheers all! Liz

So, we made it to the test Very happy to report that the car was very fast indeed at Silverstone yesterday and Tom cannot wait to get behind the wheel at Knockhill next weekend. With luck Paul should have some time to make some technical posts here and on http://www.team-zen.co.uk over the next week

I think that perception is down to the angle of the engine bay photograph Combined with the fact that there is a hell of a lot less in our engine bay than usual, turbo at the front etc etc

Come check it out in the metal some time

It's an excellent ECU, but worth buying with the extras to enable a proper setup such as closed loop fuel control, 8 position cal switch and proper air temp compensation. Luckily, all the features are already enabled in the Solaris so you don't have to pay to unlock them.

It's an excellent setup for a road car and our recommended route for anyone wanting to go to the next level on their ECU.

Paul
