Finally get round to getting the car to the workshop today .
I'm aiming to build a replica of the 2007 wrc car (visually anyway)
A couple of pics. on the transporter from my mobile . I'll take some more tomorrow so you can see where I'm starting from.
ok long story this car lol , very long if you have the time , it's a 02 jap spec sti .no roof vent . I put in a safety devices weld in roll cage a couple of years ago . wrc rear bumper thanks to Roger Clarks . rear wing has the scars from the last bodykit .
I've fitted the front brakes today (prodrive alcons) and finally got all four wheels on . suspension lowered as much as I dare so now I can see where the bodywork has got to be . Wheels are 18" x 8" with an offset of 12 .
I've cut about 30mm off the rear 1/4 panel round the shape of the arch which lines up the shorter wrc rear bumper and also does away with the dogleg . I've also cut the inner arch away so I've got plenty of clearance for suspension travel I'll weld new plates in once I've widened the back .
Not much at the front today a bit of modification on the headlamp panel to fit the hawkeye headlamp , front wings need to be at least 25mm wider and I'll probably cut the arch bigger to match the rears .pics not brilliant I'm afraid
Couple more pics for today . Cut and widened rear 1/4 and rear door . I've started to plate and weld it but I've broke the welder so no more fun till tomorrow.
is it easier to cut and weld up the skin rather then bond on a rear arch kit?
in retrospect i wish i had cut the full dogleg off mine before i fitted the 22b arches as i had to go back in and hack them off at a later date, spent ages trying to work out why the tyres were still rubbing and all the paint under the arch was untouched
