Default Re shelling a v2 STI Track Car Project

Going to be attempting this as soon as I can find a donor shell for the right money. Am I going to have to use a Turbo shell ? or is the NA shell the same.
ie does the turbo shell have more strengthening to it and if so what are the strengthening methods. Also would consider a LH drive shell as I suspect the shells are generic.

Will be picking up the car very soon so Pics will be up shortly.

all you will need is a classic shape shell, but since you are reshelling it i would go for the 2 door shell

Will be looking at this too Steve, but you know how much more they fetch.

Also to add, this is going to be a road legal track car so stripped out and caged at a minimum. I guess I may as well seam weld it while everything is out.
The reason I ask is someone over on SIDC mentioned it and have heard this twice now. I just need to confirm before I buy and waste money.

Cheers matey.

I think the 2 door shells were more rigid?
As for the 4 doors version, any will do?

Good luck with the project, Ive just nearly completed my project build (wagon shell).

It's a bit of a minefield this isn't it. I need to get to the bottom of the legality side of things also. I'm assuming I can't use the tags etc from the smashed motor? which hasnt been reported to the insurance company as it was a D&D on a shall we say private road. Civilian police were also not involved

Is this what would happen if you purchased a new shell without ID?

Sorry about the bone questions, I am a noob at this sort of thing. Importing and exporting I know LOL
Going to Recce the car in about 40 mins so pics will be up later.

Thanks again guys for the info.

The N/A cars lack a bolted on brace that goes between the A pillar and the inner wing on each side, behind the front wing, easy enough to fit if you need to

Good news is it starts, all be it a little smokey. Hasn't started since about November and started first turn. I think the turbo may be on the way out, as the smoke was apparent on lift off. It did die down after a bit. I guess taking the plugs off and having a look will be the next step. Oil and Coolant remain clear so not head gasket im thinking.
Other than that the engine was quiet with no knocking. The Alarm immobiliser and lack of keys was a pain in the **** but it's Ahem!! rectified now.

We even drove it a bit, but the prop is knocking against the bodywork. You'll see why later on LOL.

Good news: the Bonnet, drivers door, boot lid and passenger window are intact. so won't need them. Bumpers are ok too LOL
Also strangley the wheels are mint all be it a bit of mud here and there.

Notice the differing heights of the suspension turrets LOL

My mind is not made up as yet, Nor have I agreed to buy it yet untill I've further investigated the car. If I do get it there is a possibility that some will be left over though.

Time will tell, its been open to the elements for best part of 6 months too.

LOL @ RON

Hows tricks mate.

Well I managed to stay within the budget and picked this up.

Not bad for under 400 quid me thinks.

So now its just a case of picking it up, Tow bar is going on the RA so I can trailer it back to Germany next week.
Then it's time to strip the new one. Not made up on the colour but I will reserve judgment untill I see it in the flesh. If I don't like it maybe I should go down the White route.

I'd go for the 'Q' car look Aston, leave it that colour, and as standard looking as possible, it'd shock people me thinks......

Yup, something along those lines, shame that you'll probablt have to change the front bumper to get decent airflow though...... otherwise it'd be proper stealth..... ideally on steelies.... but i don't think that'd be too practical somehow......
