Evo 5/6 intercooler on MY94 UK
Finished late last night, (eyes are still asleep) Few Tweeks left to do, Fit nice proper brackets, Polish pipe work, Fit an additional straight flexi on the Drivers side pipe (bit to rigid) Oh yes & fit some nice mesh !!!
Car pulls much stronger after a quick blast this Morn, Needs an ecu reset really.

Had to extend radiator brackets & shorten top & bottom hoses to move it back.
Relocate Carbon canister in the Inner wing, Extend the pipes Etc, (put where resonator was)
Rotate MAf 180 Deg & lower to gain more bonnet clearence.
Remove front slam panel bracing strap & replace with a shorter version.
Remove the Turbo heat shield & fitted a Turbo Jacket. ( may fit some sort of Home Made alloy shield aswell for further heat deflection.
Pipework bending was a Trial & error task, But got there in the end !!!
Total cost around £300

Hi
been thinking about doing the same on my rallycar (when its finished) for the last 6 months
just a cheep way to double your intercooler size and have it placed where it should always have been
you noticed any lag / power dips or any downsides at all
youll probly need to run it for a month to notice all or any differences
where did you get pipework from and is it alloy or stainless steel?
was planning to do mine in 60mm stainless as i can get this bent easy from a m8
Nice one though for a cheepo conversion

Hi Darbo,
I have Gruppe-s unequal Headers & up-pipe on mine also so Peak boost moved slightly when i fiited those, It seems to have moved up a couple of hundred again with this, But will know better once i have run it for a while as you say, Definitaley seems more torquey & pulls strong, No power dips shown up yet, Dump valve is whoosing far more though.Pipes are stainless, I mocked them up in pipe lagging 1st & then had them bent, They were done by a friend who makes exhausts. The inlet side is nice & cool to touch now , Has to be a big impprovement over the Tiny Top mount a UK 94 Has.
Thanks
Dean

very good job, nice short pipe runs, about the best without reversing the inlet, pity no one is making a kit which would allow easy fitting of Evo intercooler, which should cope with all but genuine big power cars

Bloody hell!!!
Thought that was my old car at first!!!!!!
Only prob you may find that i found out was that the bracket from the bumper to the slam panel will bend the bumper after a while. Keep an eye on the Bonnet..
Looks much neater than mine mate!

Well if it is working fine thats very good
impressed with you as you have done it the same way as i was going to
i was even contemplating turning the inlet manifold around and moveing anything in its path altanator etc to get a direct flow and short pipe length
+ 9.5 -1 compression and antilag should help abit ---rallycar dont forget
wooooshhhh bang wooooshhhh bang yipeeeee

Cheers Guys, Was thinking about the Slam panel bracket & how i could brace it further ??, Just been tidying a few things up , Sealing the area that has been created with moving the rad back with Alloy Plate to force more air through & not up & over, Modyfied my Turbo heat shield & put that back, Fitted a straight samco joint drivers side pipe..
Done quite a few miles today after an Ecu reset & it really pulls , feels so much more torquey, really does make the car squat under acceleration & its not soft with apexi coil overs
