STI3 Type 'R' Project - Faster!
Sooooo I start another project thread. After the Project Impreziv Beast fell on its bum, im finally getting around to starting again
The car is a slightly (?!) modified STI3 Type R in Canary Yellow with so far:
- EJ20 bored or stroked to 2.2 Litres
- Cosworth Pistons
- Steel Rods
- Nitrated Crank
- STI3 Heads with Phase 1.5 Inlet
- HKS Front Mount Intercooler
- HKS Hyper Exhaust
- HKS Induction
- 440cc Injectors
- Dual Fuel Pumps with Swirl Pot
- Subaru 4 Pot Brakes
- MD298 Turbo
- Motec M48R Pro ECU (In ECU Case)
And a few other goodies I cant remember!
Currently running 350bhp at a guess, maxing out the 440cc injectors now. Will have some 550cc to throw in soon to 'get-me-by' until new engine arrives!
So over the next few months I will be doing:
- 2.65 Litre Short Engine
- Heads of some description
- STI3 Heads Ported and Polished a bit more
- STI5 Heads (I think!) with WRC-Spec Cams (355 thou lift 268 Duration)
- KAD 6 Pot Calipers with 330mm Discs
- Mille Miglia EVF Rims with 18" Tyres
- Reversing the inlet
- Lightweight Flywheel
- AP Racing Clutch
- Taking the HKS FMIC off and putting my own system on
- Carbon Fibre Bonnett Sprayed to Match
- Oil Cooler
- Hewland S2 Gearset
- 3.9 Diffs
- HKS Headers
- Finishing off the half finished ICE Install
- Bugeye Interior from WRX going in (Comfy! Almost done)
- Various Tarty Interior Pieces
- Redesigning the centre console to accomodate a TFT screen with live Motec data (Simular to the R34 GTR)
- Creating various shiny engine bits!
Amongst other stuff along the way that will catch my eye and ill throw onto it!
Considering playing with the nitrous systems and integrating it with the Motec, but not sure yet.
All in all I just like playing. So lets see what happens
[b]The car as is! (My old WRX just gone....!)

Thats 3 sets on one engine....
2.65 litres, who's that from then? Special stroker crank?

Aiming to use one of the Microatx PCs or an old laptop I got.
Still undecided on the OS though more than likely Windows of some description. Was going to integrate an MP3 player into it too.
Windows 98SE stripped down to boot quickly, although impressed with the speed Windows XP boots. Havent really got to that stage hugely yet. More fiddling in VB to get something.
First time I have done this so bound to **** it up.
Much as I would love to try Linux, dont have enough programming knowledge to use it effectively

Thats the manuals for the DCS Systems on the power station I use
Heavily UNIX based. Right pain! LOL!
P650 is rated at suprisingly 650bhp! But on the iON Legacy is running around 700bhp at the moment. It shall be interesting.

I would look to use something like compact flash to boot from, using something like windows embedded, xp is ok, however if you use something such as windows 98 - me on cf.. have a machine with plenty'o'ram, create a ram drv, copy os to ram or set the environment var's to have temp etc on ram drv..
However if you are writing the app in vb??? (let me know if you need anything)
then you could program it not to need to use the disk?
sorted a psu yet?

Sorry for the delay peeps
Right inlet converted for parrellel fuelling, been a bit quiet though recently not much done.
New Gearset fitting later
Dash being pulled out!
You can see the radio fits perfectly where the cupholder went! Just playing around with some glass fibre at the moment now.
Pulling the engine out shortly so will document that lot too!
