Thanks
RCM Development Manager - sounds good LOL - may be a long que for that job better get in quick!
Mine is still so civilised that it is bad to tell anything has been done to it - well at least until the turbo comes on song
I was expecting problems with the 650's but John has done a nice job of mapping it.
Great power figures - what is the bottom end like? Can you post your PE graph? Bob has suggested several ways of getting my spool point down which I am going to try; I am sure these will help but I would still be v interested in seeing what the finished job is like If it cannot be posted can you fax it?

This guy apparently has 480bhp on his 03 but im not sure
Link
I dont know enough about engines to quiz him so someone who knows their stuff - ask him a few questions to see what he says
Edited to say very impressive figures by the way Gaz.
I heard about NOS not going well with the scoobys to.
Someone on here (think his name is motomoc1) runs NOS on his UK and that goes REALLY well! lol
Edited cause scoobynet was playing up and wouldnt let me post a reply but let me edited my post. lol

hi john
bob mapped to 1.84 boost. on defi's she shows 2 bar peak on a cold day then holds nearly 1.9, good news 'cause it's all new stuff with this engine.
very hard to go for 450 compared to classic, but classic mapping's been done for a while now, as you well know
full spec should be in next months jap performance, basically
m800 motec
arrow conrods
omega pistons
fuel pump, regulator etc
650cc injectors
garrett turbo
have u done many new age yet or are u concentrating on classics?

I am working on an STi7 with standard internals, APS FMIC, Ion headers, Bob's Garrett turbo. RCM had a hand in the intake pipe which took some mapping around with the original ECU still using an airflow sensor, but once sorted it started, idled and cruised well, and transients coming onto boost were good and smooth.
Had one mapping session which was curtailed because the compressor discharge pipe kept blowing off and then the headers leaked. More mapping to do when these things are permanently sorted.
Bob suggested limiting boost to 1.4 bar mid, 1.25 bar at the top and keeping it rich on the standard internals because of tight bore clearance. I was disappointed to only be able to run this on tough internals and gearbox given that the turbo is good for 2 bar, but Bob had gleaned some info on the pistons nipping the bores at presumably high temperatures. Doubt it will get to 400 BHP with these boost limitations, but may get near with further mapping given that it is highly volumetrically efficient using such generous spec of bolt ons.
Other than that the few new age STis I've done have been decat/fuel pump/remap cars.
The AVCS has a few secrets to unlock yet, and I have a few things to try when next time I see this car
I was put off playing with it until I had more info because of worries about piston-valve interference (read expensive bang )

There was no thread on AVCS big bang, but I didn't want there to be LOL!
There seem to be some serious problems getting the headers to stop leaking. When they do I'll be doing more mapping on this car.

Guys, on the rollers it actually "only" ran with 1.6 bar boost dropping to 1.5 (ish) at 8k, although as Darren says, when we were lapping Brunters, it makes a good 1.8+ all the way with three up, pulled hard on the rollers though making power virtually to 8000 rpm. The car looks the business as well, made a few eyes open when the bonnet was opened but when the boot lid came up most were gob smacked !!!
The car has been set up to do consistent laps of Brunters holding full throttle end to end of the straight, EGT's maxed at circa 940 deg C in the collector under those conditions so the ceramic works well.
As Darren mentioned its all relatively new, the VVT in particular poses interesting and varied scenarios.
I'd also just like to say a big thanks to Chris and PE who slotted the car in at relatively short notice, cheers guys.

Darren was your car at JAE last Sunday, if so it did look very impressive. I was trying to see some BHP figures on your spec list but now I know, quite respectable I got to admit.
I know G Force have been playing with an STI 7 but I don't know if they have reached or exceeded 400 BHP yet.
Your boot was quite impressive, but I still prefer mine with my WRC logo which I built over 3 years ago
Colin.

It is my car that John mentioned above and thanks to lots of people on here including Bob, John & Mark @ LP, etc, it is providing me with huge amounts of fun
My target is 320ATW and it is not there yet by some way.
Big thanks are due to RCM who have supplied various parts and excellent advice and who, sooner or later, will complete an internal rebuild to improve the piston clearance issue. The intention has been to get all of the bolt-on bits sorted first & then try and sort out the money for some internal work.
Apart from odd bits like porting the headers, which I did, all build work has been completed by Brian Downie to an extremely high standard. We now have a few more plans for the next stage
As of last night it's back to the drawing board for the headers as the up-pipe joint is still leaking so they are coming off again very soon
A few exhaust changes are planned to the current Milltek system and this may easily involve a complete change to an APS. Some more plumbing work & some mapping should provide more gains then I may have to get the Scottish Mafia to estimate power levels
The car should be at TOTB on Sunday if anyone is interested in a quick look. Darren, if you are going, it would be great to compare notes mate. Hope to meet some of you there

Darren,
Matt has also kept me in touch with developments on your project - a very nice guy who does awesome work.
Lovely car & your boot install is excellent! I would love a closer look - maybe if I get the chance to visit RCM later in the year.
I have posted a couple of pictures of my job in progress if you are interested, not that you will gain much as I am following your progress rather than leading the way
- www.callumsti.fotopic.net - I will try and post more soon.
Looking forward to being able to run 1.8 bar

Second car is a good idea, I bought one last year after I realised in the winter, just going to work and back I was only getting 130 miles out of a tank of fuel The second car has saved me a fortune until I started modding that aswell
Dave I'm glad to hear my purple Scooby has inspired someone, even if it is only a logo in the boot
Colin.

ooooooooooh, don't know enough about subject to be too technical, but been told by many people who know what there talking about who all say scooby alloy blocks too fragile for NOS, so didn't even go there (think of how scoobys and detting goes )
like to see NOS on a scooby, either fantastic gamble or "pub talk bhp" .................think pub talk IMHO
