Default Wide Arched V5 STI Type R

I swore to myself that I'd never do another one but here I am, again.
Glutton for punishment, again.
Going to do as much as I can myself, again.
Including a DIY full re spray, again.

I bought this a few months back. I thought I'd start by bringing you all upto date with what Ive been upto sine I first collected the car.

So my first job was to sort the underside of the car out, it was a mess.

Everything stripped off. Time to mask up and get some protection slapped on.

Now it was time to tackle the arches.

Trial fitment and positioning.

Next up was to sort out various dings and dents the car had plus of course tidy up where the arches have been cut and welded.

Getting the repairs primed and ready for paint.

Now that all the chopping and welding had been done I transported home so I could work on it there.

It was time to get it painted. Which was done in the open air in my back garden at home.

This time i'm keeping in the original colour in this case 86F . The Engine bay saw some colour first. Followed by the bonnet.

Because of my small compressor I've had to paint the car a panel at a time more or less.

So that's where I am currently with it.

It will soon be time to start thinking about what I'm going to put here...

Any rust has been either treated or cut away and filled.

In the picture showed that bad bit of rust was all cut out, filled, painted and covered by the new arch extensions. It's now free of rust and watertight.

Top stuff Daz. The above answers my question (in your other thread) regarding the colour code. What have you used to protect the underside?

Bloody hell Daz fair play to you mate. Every time I see a jag in that blue colour it reminds me of your last classic! I'm guessing that your planning on running in s3 then with the widened body? If so the sky's the limit with regards what you can so with the motor!

This is going to be more of a road car. That said I'm aiming for north of 600bhp with this one. Not bothered what class re sprints I was always going to end up in S3 no matter what I did. It's just a shame that the arches put you in a class with full on race cars.

I used this stuff on the car. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...schutz-coating. It's really easy to apply and including the special spray gun to do it the cost for the whole car was less than £50.

Surface prep was a dirty horrible affair. A jet wash, lots of degreaser and various scrubbing brushes. It's imperitive that you let the car dry thoroughly before you apply this stuff otherwise it will just hold it there against the paintwork.

Great stuff think I may use this. So guessing you ordered around 10 cans?

5 cans, the gun was £12 and cleaning products brought the cost to just under £50

In fairness with 600bhp s3 is probably about the best place for it.
That being the case you going avcs?

Looking good, you sure are a glutton for punishment.

So i'm guessing your going 2.35 full monty route in that hole under the bonnet, knowing your style it'll be a de-strokered 2.5 and a trip to ASP.

Yes. I've got some Spec C big port heads and cams to go on. I'll be upgrading all the valves, springs and retainers though.
