The housing looks different to a normal AFP turbo.

hi, there was a previous thread with someone selling a 20g and you said it didn't look right, i asked how you new but you didn't reply, if you look on andy's own website there are two types of housing shown on there.

If your interested in buying feel free to comment, if not please dont try to put doubt into prospective buyers on something your not 'sure' about.

thanks,
steve

p.s
i've managed to find a pic of this turbo from the car i bought it from,i think you'll agree this is a very well put together car from a skilled guy, take time to read the thread its worth it.

Ye ones a 18G & the other is a 20G. If your turbo was rebuilt by Andy Forrest it does not mean its a AF turbo.

One of my mates was interested in this turbo & asked me to confirm if its a genuine AF 20g therefore i had a look & its not. The thread would be considered misleading by me but then again you say its a 20G so its a 20G.

I have seen many AFP20G turbos which have been bought direct from him including this one take a look...

As you can see it has the Mitsubishi housing.

hi,you obviously haven't looked at either the thread supplied or andy's website.

This turbo was bought by kenny s on 22b direct from andy, and is shown on that thread(try the link), and is now for sale here having been recondtioned by andy.

How about this thread?
bluesteve is me
http://bbs.22b.com/cgi-bin/ultimateb...=001827#000000

What more can i say, its genuine. i thought that a photo of a receipt and my word would be enough, didn't want to drag all this stuff into it.

thanks anyway.

Aladdin if you read the article you will see it was converted to a 20g by Andy Forrest. That would make it a afp turbo. He doesn't machine up his own housing they just change the compressor wheels to increase the availble pressures ( as do most tuners and the put their name to it). I'm surprised you come on here questioning what products Andy Forrest sells. I can vouch for this turbo as i've competed against the car that was in the link and know the previous owner of the turbo and you will see Andy had alot to do with the build of the car.
Free Bump for genuine quality product.

Hi,

Would this be too much too much for a standard version 3 STI type R engine to handle? By that i mean would it cause too much lag as compared to a VF34 or TD05 18G?

hi,
listed in order of spool and power produced
vf34
18g
20g
Generally the bigger the turbo the later the spool up, then lots of factors such as bearing design, wheel trims/materials etc all make a difference,

Pick the smallest turbo to suit your use/pub talk power figure, could be cheaper and produce what you want.

This is a genuine afp 20g, despite what aladdin thinks, if you read the thread on 22b (links on posts15/17) the previous owner of this turbo states that he bought it direct from andy and andy has posted on that thread i think he might have mentioned otherwise if this was not the case.

Reddishblue is correct, this is a genuine turbo and it was recently fully rebuilt here.
I use 3 different compressor housings on the 20G exchange turbos, the internals are all the same and are genuine Mitsubishi parts. This is the same style of compressor housing I used on my own Spec C to win two Scoobysprint rounds last year. I fitted the 20G to improve spool up over the 321T I previously had fitted. Typically this style housing gives more clearance from the intake manifold which is particularly useful for cars with TGV intakes. All of the housings used are capable of 400+ bhp with supporting mods and decent fuel.

This turbo is 100% and was warranted for 12 months (transferable) when supplied in May.

cheers

No worries mate, it is a minefield out there with all the sub standard cores on the market, I'm just glad people are looking out for them. The last one a customer came with already fitted to his car, lasted 3 dyno pulls before snapping the shaft in two !

cheers
