I'm having a brand new forged 2.5l engine built, which means my 50,000 mile '05 JDM 2 litre STi short block will be available in a month or so.
The rings are a bit worn, and it is currently in pieces and having the bores inspected for wear and then there are various options or possibilities depending on what's found and/or what a prospective purchaser would like. All work will be carried out professionally by an independent specialist.
- rebuilt as-is, but with new rings, as a 50,000 mile engine
- rebuilt as a "refreshed" engine, with new pistons, rings and a complete set of bearings
- left in pieces for you to do with whatever you want
It will be missing one or two things, such as a sump - my assumption is that it will be replacing an existing engine so you can re-use the odd part like that from your existing block. Such parts can, of course, be provided by agreement.
If anyone has any idea of a suitable price for these, or any other, options then I'd be interested to know. Or if you think this might suit your needs then let me know so I can make decisions on what to do with the block.
FWIW I also have a single, complete, JDM passenger-side cylinder head (for cylinders 2/4) with AVCS etc in good condition. The second head is cracked and is probably junk, although I might spend money to have it pressure tested and skimmed if it is believed serviceable.
