Paypal wont be able to help as its a non ebay transaction. Had the same problem myself. Got ripped off by a guy who posted on here as paintshopgaz.
Real name Gareth Unwin who comes from Lancs area. Paypal can only help if he has money in his paypal account if not they wont help. I bought a gearbox of this wxxxxx and of course he never sent it. Just waiting on the final outcome from another direction before sorting it myself.
There are more and more crooks showing up on this site that there needs to be some form of traceable info set up by the mods before people are allowed to post for sale items. I would be all for some form of registration process that requires perhaps a code sent to the home address before access is allowed to post items for sale. These sort of threads are becoming far to common.
The upside is if you paid by credit card your credit card provider should refund the money.
