You signed the receipt which stated the obligation of both parties. I emailed you several times and you ignored them all.

You said you could not even afford to tax the car when I asked you about the plate. I even offered to buy the car back from you - it didn't deserve to go to someone who could not even afford tax! I sent email after email to get my plate and you went quiet.

You bought my car 12 months ago and your selling a completely different Impreza now - Yet again, eyes bigger than your wallet?

If it was just as easy as supplying you a cheque to DVLA why not reply to one of my emails?

You were not honest in our transaction so I hope this is a warning to anyone who reads this.

I then later sold the car on and the plate went with it as I had still not received your cheque, I'd be stupid to also pay for your transfer myself after also leaving a deposit. I don't have that money to lose! So no, my eyes are not bigger than my wallet and I'm laughing at the fact you attempt to deminish my reputation. The reason I am selling another Subaru is because I trade them!
Many thanks for the 2k profit on your car.

Final word as I have no wish to waste my time with untrustworthy individuals such as yourself.

I said I would try to help you out as you were skint but you went quiet. I did not offer to give you more money to have the plate changed. I said that to speed things up I could ask someone who lives near you to pick up paperwork - not more cash to someone who clearly could not afford the car they had purchased.

You have no reputation to have diminished. Your a trader (and therefore I suspect you've broken SN rules by not posting as such) and hopefully my words of warning will put off any potential buyers.

If he has agreed that you retain your registered number, then sue him for your loss in the small claims court. All youll need is the agreement note and a believable arguement; the judge will disregard any excuses and nonsense often proposed as justification for defrauding.

Good luck.

Like I said in here, I didn't go too far into small claims because I thought it would probably cost more than the plate. The online number plate checks still show the plate is on the car. If I knew where it was I'd speak to the new owner myself.

I wonder how the tax man would view someone who "deals" in cars, is not a registered business and boasts making £2k profit on cars

Has to be declared on your P60.
And if your employed then you get to pay 25% tax as it's classed as a second job.

I'm just wondering where he got the engine gold plated coz for £7k it's gonna need something like that to even get a sniff!!

Report him to the inland revenue via their website. See if he finds his dishonesty quite so amusing then.
