I'm moving to sunny Spain in a few weeks after years of planning and I now no longer have need for a Sony Lappy I bought last year.

The laptop is in physically good condition but it creaks and groans and is now sometimes very slow. There's also an intermitant noise which comes from the hard drive which makes me think it may need a bit of servicing and/or new drive etc. (like a quick creaking noise). I'm no expert though and have just laid out for a new desktop to a very high spec for me and a new laptop for 'er indoors to use in Spain. I also put my kit through a fair bit of use so consider it's time for a change anyway...

It's currently installed with XP home Edition but can have this upgraded to XP Pro SP2 if it's a deal breaker.

The lappy cost me £853.04 inc vat last April (2004) and I still have the order confirmation thingy from Dabs where I bought it. It's the Sony Vaio FR415B Celeron 2.8Ghz model by the way. It has 512Mb RAM and 40Gb space across 2 drives...I think.

I've quite a bit of software on there as I'm a web designer (of sorts) so I won't delete this off unless requested (Dreamweaver, Nortons Virus, ftp programs, pdf creator etc. etc...) I've also been using Skype (VOIP) quite happily too.

Given there is an acknowledged problem I'd be looking for about £250 + £12 for postage (unless you can collect from Tunbridge Wells or Southend). Comes with cables etc., 2 x side USB's, floppy drive, CD Burner/DVD etc...
