Thumbs up RA box and diff for sale, open to offers!

At the end of this weekend I will have an RA (none DCCD) box and rear diff for sale.
The diff ratio is 4.11, the parts work and are sound.

The gears are very short, so accelleration is blistering!

Buy collects, they are too heavy to post(!)

I'm after £500 the lot. Please email if you are serious. I'm putting an Sti trans into the car now, hence the sale.

Alan, I had this trans in my Stiv3. Running on 17's with very low profile Kumho's (smaller diameter then the classic 16's and 50 section tyres), I had 5000 rpm at 80 mph.
Surprisingly, the fuel consumption wasn't bad at all, but did it ever accellerate from there!
The trans does not suit my use for my Sti, hence the Sti trans going back in this weekend. Rear diff comes out tomorrow.
Remember, unless your car already has a 4.11 diff you must fit the rear diff!

I am based just outside Wolverhampton.

Hope this helps, 911.

Sorry, Alan:

I think the whole trans will fit your UK car, clutch ok, driveshafts etc all ok. Thus no need to split the trans, fit as it is as a whole.

Alsn, not sure if the RA boxes are tougher than the 'other' Scooby boxes, but the short gears do help take the strain out of the system as the gears are easy for the power to transmit through.
My Sti has only 315 bhp, BUT the Kumhos are the softest, stickest tyres around that are road legal. The level of grip is stunning over Toyo's for example, so this puts much more strain on the trans as wheelspin is harder to get (the wheelspin on start off takes the shock off the trans).
This RA set has survived all this!

If I can't sell it all I will hive it away until a rainy day....

Let me know. 911

How fast do you want to go?
If your engine is a revver, then you are ok, if it is a motorway runner do NOT fit this transmission!

If this was to go on a uk car the props/hubs and brakes would have to be changed to though?

Would they? Are not the 1999UK cars the same as the Jap cars?
The RA trans I have is a 1994/95 era car (I take this reference that the early RA's had 4.11 diffs). It fitted my Sti v3 (1996/7) no problem, all bolted in!

I'm not sure exactly what the 160/180 refers to. I do know that the 180 diff needs the drive shafts (etc) to go with it. I think it refers to the width of the rear diff housing, ie beween the driveshafts?
Just gone and measured it: the RA is the same as my Sti = 160mm across the width of the cast housing. I think the '180' diff is Type R country and a bit rare?

I paid £550 for the set, hence the 500!

Will try to send you pm now.

Regards, 911

Are they still available?

I tried to send you a pm, but:

Sorry Pete, failed to keep an eye on the pm box!
Yes they are still here, one other guy previous to your mail may be interested, and he has tried to pm me too and got the same message.
If he says he wants them for my price, then the deal is his, hope you understand, hate any Dutch auction issues.
Please pm me as I've emptied almost the file now.
