BTW, if it isn't a break barrel, how do the pellets get loaded? Call me stupid if necessary...

There is an under barrel lever that pulls downward (you can see this on the pic). Just in front of the scope there is a loading breach. Once you have cocked the lever you can slide the breach open, insert the pellet and then close it.

The idea behind this is that you are not continually pulling the barrel down and eventually slightly bending it and making the rifle more inaccurate. It also makes the whole rifle a more sturdier platform
