Smile VW Golf GTI mk4 *price drop/offers?*

Hi All

*open to offers* £1995 ovno

The wife & I have decided it is time to replace the golf & get another scoob
Since parting with my wrx about 5 years ago, I settled with a 1998 vw golf gti which i have cherished for the last 3 or so years.
Its flown through all its mot's & is taxed, had cambelt & loads services etc.

1.8 20v (AGN engine - non turbo)
87k on the clock
125bhp
Flash Red, Hatch 4 door
Taxed till end march, mot till 21st sept but can do a deal & put a new mot on it.

elec windows all round (automatic front), elec mirrors, power steer, elec sunroof, abs, remote locking
very economic, i can get 28/30 around town & over 40mpg on a run. 44 is the best i have got.
New clutch as i never liked the feel of it when i purchased the car, so last year i had a new one put a new one in!
brand new front tyres (firestone tz300 premiums) Michelin on the back with loads tread left. 15" standard 5 spoke alloys.
drilled/grooved front discs with ebc yellow pads
K&N replacement panel with extra cold air feed from behind the grill in the engine bay.
front strut brace.
cat back Magnex system
lowered on eibach springs (-35mm) both zorst & springs done at demon tweeks.
new trim - interior door handles all round & drivers window switches/handle.
Focal front component speakers & alpine cda9853r cd player & the ipod control unit.

i have both keyfobs!, previous mots & receipts for parts etc.

overall very good condition for the year, with no signs of rust or issues.
Will sort some pics out

Its cheap to insure (group 10 i think) me & the boss, fully comp - £340
I have only done 8 - 10k per year in it since i owned it - its never missed a beat or let me down.
We would like to keep it & sell the mrs's clio but as her clio is not worth much, so the golf drew the short straw

Any questions please ask

hopefully the pics will show how well it is & well looked after it is
Thanks for looking
grill is now black btw - will add a new pic as soon as i take it!

You sure it's 125bhp? Thats pretty low for such a big car. A 1600 VW Lupo GTI is 125bhp

28/30mpg around town (once warmed up) & late 30's early 40's on a run. 44mpg is the best i have got on good driving, which i think is pretty good!

yes mate, definately 125 bhp. Its the same engine as the turbo (1.8 20v) but obviously no turbo.
It does not seem much, i was wondering that at first too, but the gearing really does help it out. It seems to have very good gear ratios not only for fuel consupmtion but performance as well - it does shift well for a 125bhp. Also the good Eibach springs make up for a few horse's ;-) & new drilled & grooved discs with EBC yellow pads help too.

good motor the tdi, thats what i originally looked at but the price of one buying one is mega money & the miles i do (not many), it made this petrol gti cheap as chips to run compared to a scoob & 528i i had! :-)

parkers rate it as £2350 private/good. Considering all the tlc & new parts i have renewed & replaced just because i look after my cars, i think this is a bargain!

wow that car looks good for the age, i had one but gave it to the missus for a run about its got 120k on the clock and still drives sweeeeet, dont be put off by the 125hp it still goes plenty quick and they handle good too, plus not too juicey as no turbo. Good luck with the sale.

I was looking at this on p'heads yesterday. Very nearly clicked the email seller button. Only thing that stopped me was how far away you are. Selling my white STi too
