Default 2005 WRX - STI Specs £6900

Hello.....

Hate to do this but my wee car is just sitting not getting used thanks to a new company car, been trying to hold on to it as long as I can but it's taking up space on the drive.....

Anyway, placed an add on pistonheads, got loads more pics if anyone is interested. Unfortunately the car is Cat D registered but I've not had any problems in the last year that I've owned it and it was service by Subaru Manchester only about 1.5k miles ago.

Here's the link if you're interested. Any questions drop me a line. Cheers

I'm really interested in this car. I was initially after a WRX (remapped) and then decided on an STi (but finding a blobeye for my £8k budget is proving difficult).

I've emailed volcom and he kindly sent me some pics of the interior (thanks for the pics by email volcom - they came through fine).

The only thing putting me off (obviously), is the Cat D status plus no service history up to 10k miles.

The car looks absolutely mint and the upgrades including STi interior and Brembo brakes is something I would have planned on doing to a WRX if I went down that option. In other words, this car is everything I would want a WRX to look like.

Its just that dreaded Cat D status putting me off to be honest.

Just remember Cat-D damage can be very very minor - if you are really interested and like the look of the car you could get an independant inspection carried out to vouch for the quality of the repair?

Volcom actually answered my question about the Cat D damage and it was involved in a front-end collision.

He pointed out that it was only damage to the bonnet, bumper and slam panel (don't know what that is to be honest).

Also, is there any way I can get full service history even if the first owner lost his paperwork? I would presume that Subaru would keep a log of history records (assuming the first owner used Subaru to service the car up to 16k miles)?

IIRC the first service wouldnt of been due to 10k or 12months and would of only consisted of oil and filter change and general check over.
The slam panel is the panel that runs between the 2 wings and the bonnet shuts down onto.
To be honest a cat D with only very minor damage would not put me off, seems a bargain and very nice car.

hey guys, thanks for the kind words!

I am super sad to be seeing it go, just got home today to find some little ******* have stolen the STI badge off the rear and broke the STI pink grille badge from the front. raging!! But new ones ordered tonight and will be on by the weekend. Little toerags!!

I asked about the service history at Greenwoods in Manchester and they couldn't even find the car to start with, Subaru had no record of it, then they actually found the registration on their system but couldn't get me any historical data. Any independent inspection is more than welcome.

If anyone needs any more info or pics just drop me a PM or email. I took loads the other day so I could remember it by when I eventually sell it!

One other thing to note guys, there is a small crack in the paintwork on the roof. I need to update the advert to say this, I was quoted £60 by Dent Wizard to take this out and repaint. Just not got time to do it, thats reflected in the price.

Don't want to hide anything Cheers

Hi Volcom.

Thanks again for the interior pics sent to my work email address - most appreciated.

I am certainly interested in the car. It looks a good one and I intend to keep the car for a good 4-5 years so aren't too worried about the low sell on price when the time comes to sell.

Can you just confirm the first piece of service history you have (is it on 16k miles)? Also, has the car got any MOT on it as I didn't find any mention of it on your ad?

Final question - would you be at all interested in a part-exchange with my 2002 Civic Type-R with money your way? If not, I am going to have to sell it quickly.

Hey Cobraman, you're welcome for the pics.

The first service paperwork I have for it is 20k, when I got it done myself, the guy didn't have any service paperwork for it but I was happy as I took a mechanic friend who loves his scoobs along to have a look over it. I like to service my cars regularly and it had been sitting for ages not doing much so got it serviced again just before 24k, or there abouts, I knew I was going to be selling so wanted to make sure it was running well. If you want to arrange an inspection I won't be offended

It's MOT'd through till mid December, it was it's first MOT just before Christmas and it sailed through.

Unfortunately the reason I am selling is due to the new company car so I won't be looking for a part ex, if the tax man wasn't stealing from my wages I'd be keeping her for sure

Cheers for the interest

Thanks for that.

So if the Scooby should be serviced every 10k miles then I am only really missing one service history if that makes sense. Sounds good to me.

If I do come and have a look at the car, I will probably be bringing my mate (or a professional mechanic with me - just for piece of mind as I have done with any car I look to buy).

I''ll stick my CTR up for quick sale and see if I can shift it asap.

Hi volcom,

I have decided I will go ahead with an AA comprehensive check as below.

https://www.aacheck.com/checklist-vi...40BD770A4A0958

Can you just confirm you are happy with this and if so, I'll pay for the test and they will have someone contact you about booking the car for the test (normally within 3 working days so perhaps Monday at a guess). They will come out to you when it is convenient for you and will need the car keys for around 2 hours.

Cheers - Dave

One more thing - any chance of a photo of the crack in the paint on the roof. I am a professional car detailer so I would probably take care of this myself if it isn't too bad.

Cheers - Dave

Hey Dave,

No problem about the inspection, as long as it's arranged for after 6pm as I wouldn't be back from work until then.

I'll take some pics of the crack tonight and email them off to you

Cheers

Thanks mate.

I am hoping to talk to my mechanic mate today and see if he could carry out the inspection when I come out to see the car (saves me £200 and means we can do it in one go). Would you be available in the day time this Saturday/Sunday?

My mum has kindly said she will lend me £5k so I can purchase the car without having to sell my CTR straightaway so that is good news on that front as well.

Thanks for everything mate. You have been so helpful and it makes it so much easier buying a car from an honest chap.

I managed to get home from the fuel in the car and it is still just above the E mark on the fuel clock. Just curious but does the fuel light come on when it needs filling up?

Cheers - Dave

Hey Dave, BIG fUD is right dude, I only ever let it get low for the light to come on once, that was because I missed the service station on the motorway. I always filled up when it got to 1/4 or below, never let it into the red. But the fuel light does come on when it drops into the red at some point.

And keep sticking that Optimax in there!!

Thanks mate.

Yes - I don't ever let the light come on as I don't want the crap getting into the mechanicals. Just curious though as the gauge needle was on E and the light still hasn't come on yet.

Also curious as to how many miles (or how much fuel is left in the tank) when the light does show up.

Not actually too sure, might be in the owners manual?

When the light came on with me I managed another 10 miles on the motorway, filled up and it took 50 litres! I thought it was only a 50 litre tank so I must have been a baw hair from running out of gas! Not the best.
