---
Folks, I'm selling my 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX (WR Blue) which has had a full rebuild by David & the team at API Impreza.

Please contact me if you're interested, I'm off on hols soon so am keen to sell before then. Any questions then fire away.

More photos below

69,000 miles with full professional engine rebuild by API Impreza at 55,000miles.

Full service history (Subaru main dealer until 55k then at specialist garages)

Very well maintained, kept original (although improved by engine rebuild)

Sympathetically driven – no track days or alike

One previous owner, I bought the car at 7000miles.

Fantastic condition inside and out. This car drives and looks great and is set to go on and on.

The £3000 API engine rebuild included:

• New standard-bearing-size crank & competition bearings
• New weight matched & balanced con rods
• New pistons and rings & fresh bores
• Fully overhauled cylinder heads with new valves
• API rebuilt & improved oil pump
• New cam belt, gaskets & oil filter
• All re-usable parts chemically cleaned inside & out where appropriate

Additionally, this car benefits from replaced:

• Subaru disks/callipers/pads all round
• Toyo Proxy tyres all round
• Windscreen

Taxed to June 2008, long MOT.

Fantastic condition inside and out. This car looks great and is set to go on and on.

Priced to sell at £6995 now £6495

Genuine reason for sale.
Viewing in Hertford / Stevenage area - convenient for A10/A1(M) but no canvassers or wannabe Test Pilots. Thanks.

Default Rebuild

Hi,
Just out of interest, why did it need an engine rebuilt at such a low mileage ?
I'm looking at one similar with 101K & now I'm having second thoughts !

Thanks

John

Hey John - I wish I knew! It was always serviced on schedule by Subaru and well maintained between services. I always drive it sympathetically (warm up, cool down, avoiding redlining) and have never tracked it.

It seems that it's not that uncommon for big end bearings to go on these and there are a several companies out there making a living from scooby engine rebuilds as a result.

I've heard several suggestions - that there's a design prob with the oil pump/circulation, that main dealers don't follow the "right" procedure for oil changes and also that the engines don't like BP Ultimate (which I did tend fill up with from time to time thinking it was the right thing to do). There are lots of folks on this forum that know much more about this than me...

Anyhow, all I can say is that there's nothing sinister lurking here - it's a great car at a great price. If you're after a decent WRX then this is a great bet.

The car is still available, perhaps the rebuild puts some folks off, I was hoping someone on here might recognise that it's actually a big plus. I've had an offer from a trader which I'm likely to take up unless someone jumps in soon.

Give me a shout, I'm sure that anyone who sees and drives this car want it.
