Smile MY00 Impreza Turbo 1 owner 60K

Hi all, Its time for me to sell my pride and joy. I ordered this UK spec car new from Subaru Aalsmeer in Holland, and have owned it from new. It was first registered new to me at the end of March 2000, and is the latest facelift model from the classic shape era. It has always been garaged and never smoked in (I don't smoke). I have had it serviced every 6 months by either Subaru main dealers or Subaru specialists, I have detailed the servicing below. No expense has ever been spared, and this car has proved to be fautless. From new the ONLY thing outside normal servicing/consumables that it has required has been one oil seal from a cam cover. This was picked up by Xtreme Scoobies during routine servicing (last service) and replaced at the same time. This car has been cherished and un-abused by one mature owner. I cannot stress how well looked after this car has been. The car has optional factory fit airconditioning and also top of the range Thatcham 1 Clifford Alarm/Immobiliser with all paperwork/installation certificates. Also included in the price is an expensive "WRC" numberplate which I purchased seperately. This really sets the car off.

It has just hit the 60,000 mile mark. It is booked in for an MOT on monday, so will come with 12 months. It has 6 months tax. It has EVERY single receipt for EVERY service as well as a fully stamped book. All previous MOT's are present. I have an A4 ringbinder full of paperwork to prove the cars history. I have only ever had the front discs/pads replaced ONCE in 60,000 miles as I drive like an old woman, the car and its paper work speak for themselves! The tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1's with loads of tread left. This car wants for nothing.

The engine is standard and has never been tampered with. The only modifications are the 17inch MIM Brescia alloys (supplied by Elite), Scoobysport (Hayward & Scott) backbox, and STi 5 high level rear spoiler. The original unmarked alloys with tyres, backbox and spoiler are all available by seperate negotiation if required. It also has a removable tow bar which I fitted early last year to tow a single motorcycle trailer to the odd trackday. It can be completely removed if desired, but its not really visible when the towing bar is un-cllipped, as shown in the pics.

Service history:

18/04/00 1017 miles Subaru Wilsons
29/09/00 6391 miles Subaru Wilsons
30/03/01 9533 miles Subaru Days of Chelmsford
29/09/01 12273 miles Subaru Days of Chelmsford
28/03/02 17638 miles Subaru Days of Chelmsford
27/09/02 21951 miles Scoobysport
26/03/03 24964 miles Scoobysport
28/09/03 28105 miles Scoobysport
30/03/04 33445 miles Scoobysport
30/09/05 38011 miles Xtreme Scoobies
30/03/05 42703 miles Xtreme Scoobies
30/09/05 45302 miles Scoobytek
28/03/06 47758 miles Xtreme Scoobies
30/09/06 52214 miles Xtreme Scoobies
03/04/07 55580 miles Xtreme Scoobies

The car has been serviced as per the manufacturers schedule. The cambelt has been change twice, all fluids changed as required. No expense has ever been spared. The airconditioning has also been serviced twice during my ownership in order to maintain its optimum performance. I rarely use the car as my passion is motorbikes, I no longer get the same excitement from cars. I'm selling as its pointless me owning a car like this, Im changing to a diesel 3 series as I only ever poodle around when driving, I get my thrills from motorbikes. Obviously there are a few unavoidable stone chips that any car of this age has, but if you're genuinely looking for an un-abused, un-molested, well loved and looked after classic shape Impreza, you will not find a better example anywhere. This car is HPI clear.

WOW

I give this a week before it goes.If only i was in a position to buy my next one i would be down this weekend to buy it.

I'd give the engine bay a spruce up though

Good luck with the sale...(not that you'll need it!)

Hello mate, thanks for the comment

The reason I don't clean the engine bay is because I'd personally be suspicious of a car for sale that had an IMACULATE engine, as there's always the chance its been steam cleaned to hide an oil leak. Im in no way saying everyone who keeps their engine looking spotless is hiding something because thats not true. But there are people out there who would do such a thing, and I'm a suspicious person . Also, the engine had some sort of wax/protective coating from the factory, so I didn't want to wash it off.

Cheers

I thought for one moment it was the same as mine - but its a Euro Import.

Good luck with the sale - looks nice - the seats are different to mine (mine is a MY00) are those MY99 Seats?

Hello mate. No, they are standard MY00 seats. This car is the final facelift version before they changed the shape to the bugeye look.

There is no difference between this car and any other MY00 Impreza turbo bought in the UK, they all came off the same production line in Japan. Its a parallel import, not a grey import.

Cheers

Well spotted! You're right. I just checked through my history and found the receipt for it. Its an sti 6 spoiler supplied and painted by TSL Motorsport at a cost of £516.95.

Thanks for spotting my deliberate mistake

Nice car, but I have a similar one 1998 with full leather 55000 miles serviced by Days every six months from new all bills two cambelts etc etc up for £5750 and so far in 3 months only two time wasters who never even turned up!!
But maybe you will do better with that colour mine is red , but like yours faultless.
Good luck with the sale and beware the "pub talk" total time wasters.

Exclamation UPDATE

Hello. This car sailed through its MOT today without any problems, so its now got a full 12 months. I've also booked it into Xtreme Scoobies to have it serviced ready for its new owner! This car wants for nothing (apart from a new home )

Cheers

You get rid of em one of two ways in the current climate mate. Price em dirt cheap and prepare for a deluge of chavtastic candidates. Sell em for a reasonable price (with that mileage yours most certainly is -i certainly wouldn't part with it for less) be patient and wait for the right buyer- they WILL come along, but it may take time. Depends how much you need the money!

Alterntively, keep the car a couple more years and watch the values go the way of the Cosworth Escort after all the dross has expired/been written off!

Sorry for perhaps a silly question - is this a UK registered car for insurance purposes or an import?

I have been hankering for an unabused 2000MY original car for a while and this is surely a perfect example of that!

Yes its a UK registered, UK spec car. The log book does not state anywhere that this car was purchased from Holland. Even the owners manual is in English. Its technically a "parallel" import (EU import), but NOT a "grey" import (a model not sold in the UK market and therefore not officially available, eg classic shape WRX's, STI's etc).

For the purposes of Insurance, if they ask, just tell them its a UK spec car, not a grey import. I've never had any problems or paid any extra premium in all the time I've owned it. There is no reason why any insurance company should attempt to load the premium for this car, its EXACTLY the same as a car bought from a UK dealer, it came off the same factory line in Japan. The only imports that insurance companies sometimes load up the premiums for are "grey" imports, as they are DIFFERENT cars to those sold in the UK market, and therefore parts availability/prices MAY be harder to source/more expensive.

Hope that helps

nice motor. and a wee comment on the likeness of the uk turbo to the cossie escort.....nae chance ! it was made for a couple of years against 9 years and in a lot less abundance the scooby will never see a uk turbo reach cossie prices.....sorry but 100% true.. anyway, good luck with your sale ernie , i love the two tone seats !

Although being an EU import probably won't affect the insurance, they are about £6k cheaper to buy new now, so not sure how that affects the 2nd hand price.

It DEFINATELY won't affect the insurance. If you pay more insurance for an EU import, regardless of car make/model, you are being scammed by the insurance company. There is NO reason why you should pay an increased premium.

In your own words thats "now." On a 7 year old car it makes no odds. Any sane person would be more concerned with condition, mileage, fsh etc etc, they all rolled off the same production line in Japan. But thanks for your input.

Congrats. That was the only saloon that was pulling me away from my first wish, a late classic Wagon. Back on the wagon hunt now!!
