Default Stunning STI 5 RA WRC Ltd Edition

Stunning Subaru Impreza STI 5 Type RA WRC Limited Edition, no 0856/1000. 2000, W reg, 44k miles. This car has been very well modified to make a fantastic fast road/ track car.

The STI5 RA WRC Ltd Edition is regarded by many as possibly the best factory Impreza ever built in terms of handling ability. The lightweight RA body combined with a few nice to have’s – Climate control and Electric windows & mirrors result in a brilliant car as standard. With the quality standard of modifications to this car, the level is pushed much further as to what this car can do.

Recent work undertaken
2 litre engine, rebuilt after big end failure with the following: -
The new engine consists of the following: -

Original block, bored to 1mm oversize
Mahle forged pistons – honed bores to match
STI 7/8 crank (has improved oilways to aid lubrication of bearings)
H-Section billet rods
ACL Race Bearings (big ends and main) – these are about the best bearings that you can get
ARP Head bolts
RCM modified oil pump
New modine, cam belt tensioner, cam belt and head gaskets and all other seals needed, etc.

That’s about it – cost me about £3200 all in including fitting.

This engine is capable of running 450bhp+ with the right supporting mods. Poss just turbo, injectors and remap

Turbo Currently has a Turbo Dynamics MD191 (370bhp @1.5 bar)

Other mods

ECU – GEMS Motorsport – has anti lag functionality and switch for running 95 ron unleaded when needed.
FMIC – HKS
Fuelling – SX Fuel pump, filter and regulator – braided hoses, etc
Injectors – Apexi 550cc
Induction – HKS Super Power Flow
Exhaust – Group N downpipe – 3” (decat), straight through centre and Scoobysport back box
Uprated Exedy Organic Clutch with lightened flywheel
Lightweight RCM Pulleys

Suspension – LEDA B adjustable coilovers (ride height and damping) with linear & progressive tender springs – just like the rally cars have
Front & rear strut braces
Bigger anti roll bars
Poly bushes all round
5-point under body brace
Camber bolts, anti lift kit, etc
Geometry set up by Powerstation

Brakes – AP Racing 330mm 4-pots with Pagid RS 4-2 pads up front (awesome)
Rear – standard 2 pots

Interior – Gauges – 4 HKS Mechanical gauges in pod – Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Turbo Boost and Exhaust Gas Temp
STI 9 leather steering wheel
Wheels – Speedline GT1 Lites in Gold with Toyo T1Rs – 215/35/18s

This car has been modified to perform on the road and track. With the adjustable damping on the suspension, it can be toned down to make comfortable on the road and turned up to make race hard on the track. With a set of sticky tyres, this car will excel on the track, beyond most others.

If you are interested in competing in the likes of Scooby Shootout, TOTB, Time Attack or your local hill climb/ sprint – then this car has great potential to do well in all of these, and will make an absolute amazing car to drive to the Nurburgring and put in blisteringly quick laps.

The engine has just been rebuilt and run in with mineral oil for the 1st 1k miles and now on Motul 300V fully synthetic. The car has 44k miles on the clock, which are believed to be genuine and has 12 months MOT and 6 months Tax. Fastidiously maintained by Len at Subaru 4 You since I have owned it and there is a whole load of info/ receipts from previous owners. The general excellent condition is a reflection on that.

Looking for £12.5k as it is. I know you can buy newer cars for this money, but this is a special car – a limited edition and one of the best ever produced – just now so much better than original spec. This is a real Drivers car – not a show & shine car – where it would be completely wasted.

If you’re interested please call Terry on 07967 447087.

is the sti ra gearbox stronger than a UK gearbox?

I have resisted going to big power on mine to avoid big costs on strenghthening/replacing the gearbox.

Not sure to be honest. There are quite a few running high 300's if not 400 using this type of gearbox. Not sure you could go much further for too long with it though - and indeed this engine can accomodate a fair bit more (450bhp )
