Default STI 5 Type RA Ltd 555 WRC Edition

STI 5 Type RA Ltd 555 WRC Edition (V-Ltd) No. 0856/1000

Due to my impending new business start-up – for which I need the cash, I am selling my cherished 2000 (W Plate) Subaru Impreza STI version V Type RA Limited 555 WRC Edition (or V-Ltd as they are known) in Sonic blue. Number 0856/1000.

No expense has been spared on this car by myself and its previous owners. This car is also well known – having been featured in Japanese Performance back in 2002.

The mileage is currently at a genuine 39k miiles, and has been serviced regularly (I used Len at Subaru 4 You) but previously was serviced by Wayne @ ABP Motors. The last oil, filter and coolant change was done less then 1000 miles ago including cambelt. Motul / Silkolene fully synthetic oil has been used throughout its life. Any HPI / RAC / AA inspection or such is welcome.

The car has been fitted with a Cobra CAT1 alarm / immobiliser. Certificate is included.

The V-Limited Type RA is one of the rarest Impreza's in the classic shape. It has all the hardcore features of the RA, yet having all the electric bits such as electric windows (front and rear), electric folding mirrors, remote central locking, air con, climate control and roof vent, etc etc.

As standard it comes with all the STi bits as follows:

STi / Group N 5 speed close ratio gearbox
STi pedals
STi short ratio steering rack
STi blue velour / suede bucket seats
STi Intercooler water sprayer, modified for front mount intercooler
STi short shifter
Adjustable centre differential (DCCD)

The car has some excellent and well thought out modifications on it, which include:

GEMS ECU
Turbo Dynamics MD191 uprated turbo – (1.5 bar and 370bhp max)
AP Racing 4 pot calipers up front (recently refurbished with new seal kit)
18" P1 Alloys (graphite) with 215/35/18 ZR Toyo T1Rs all round
Adjustable Leda B Coilovers – with progressive springs (very high spec)
Hayward and Scott Exhaust System
HKS Front mount intercooler
HKS Racing Suction Kit
Group N down pipe
Group N mid pipe
Uprated fuel system (apexi 550cc injectors, SX fuel pump, SX regulator and uprated fuel lines)
Uprated clutch and lightweight flywheel (API supplied Exedy organic clutch)
Powerstation bump steer modification
Powerstation geometry setup
AP Racing 330mm grooved brake discs up front with Pagid RS 4-2 (Blue) pads
Standard rear brakes and Ferodo DS2500 pads
HKS dials (oil temp, exhaust gas temps, oill pressure, boost pressure) in carbon fibre fascia
HKS dump valve
Spec-R battery cover
Spec R windscreen washer bottle
STi Carbon Fibre front strutbrace
STi anti roll bars
STi anti lift bars
Polyurethane bushes all round
Tinted windows (very very lightly)
Clear headlights
JVC component and rear speakers
Alpine headunit and disc changer

To top it off the cars engine management system runs on a Gems ECU mapped by Steve Simpson. It runs sweet as a whistle. I will be getting it remapped just for my peace of mind before i sell it.

The car is mapped for Shell Optimax, however it has a 2 stage switch. Hence if you cannot find Optimax it allows you to flick a switch and allow you to run on 95 RON fuel. The Gems ECU has also been mapped so that the "check engine light" acts as a shift light.

I have all the receipts for the above except for the GEMS ECU. The car was recently rolling roaded at 366BHP and 375LB-FT ...you just need to drive it to feel this kind of power.

I have receipts adding up to approximately £27,000 by previous owners (you can add it up yourself).

The car is an absolute minter. The bodywork is in immaculate condition, except for some kerbing on the alloys. Autoglym and Mur products are always used to clean the car. The car was magazine featured in Japanese Performance mag back in 2002.

OK – now to the nitty gritty. I have owned this car since Nov last year and absolutely love it. I am the 1st owner to use it on a daily basis, and as such have had a few things that needed sorting. These are:

Full set Samco coolant hoses.
New Hayward & Scott Up-pipe
New uprated Exedy Organic clutch and skimmed/ lightened flywheel
(from API)
Full set new AP caliper seals on the front and Pagid RS 4-2 pads
Replacement STI6 engine fitted in last 1k miles (this engine holds better oil pressure than the last and is generally all-round in better condition – had about 30k miles on it)
Refurbished/ uprated LEDA B coilover suspension – just had this carried out this week as the struts needed refurbishing (as they do every 2 years or 30k miles). So I had progressive springs fitted with Eibach springs – making for a far better susupension kit – proper professional set-up.
All of the above has cost me about £3500

I truly believe the car to be in its best ever state currently. The uprated suspension is amazing and the car is so quick over any surface (road/ track/ etc) that there would be very few cars that could outpace it. The brakes are astounding – very strong with great initial bite.

Now this is an RA – so it’s noisy – there is a lack of sound deadening and the panels/ glass are thinner in places. The suspension is firm, but compliant. This is not an ideal commuting car – if you want smooth and quiet then this is not for you. But if you want race-car feel and plan to enjoy some trackdays or sprints then this would be hard to beat for the money.

Also this car has been driven on track and in a hillclimb recently and I will be competing at Scooby Shootout on Sunday May 21st in her. If you want to see it in action then come along. I think it will surprise a few on the handling circuit and should put in low 12s quarters if not a bit better.

I bought the car in November 2005 for £12.8K. Having spent £3.5k on it since, I believe that a price of £12k to be very reasonable. I may consider offers/ part exchange – so let me know what you have.

Please don’t waste my time if you are not really interested/ in a position to buy. This car is thirsty (less than 20mpg), noisy and not overly comfortable – but it is an awesome car – ideally set up for fast road/ track and looks the part too.

PM me or call on 07967 447087 if you’re interested.

Cheers

Terry
