Default MY04 Type UK STI PPP - For Sale

*****************************
Unfortunatley what I thought was a certain buyer has fallen through, this car is now re-priced at 16.5k for a quick sale, the mileage is now 12,500, everything else is the same.
*****************************

I will be selling my car soon due to having a baby on the way early next year and unfortunatley due to costs etc my much loved car has to go.

So before I put it in Autotrader or worse still having to sell it back to the dealer, I thought I would put it on here and gauge the response (if there is any .

MY04 (April) SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI Type UK Prodrive - 305BHP
WRC Blue Mica – Immaculate
Very low mileage - 11000 miles
Full Subaru Service History and interim oil changes etc (with CVC in Cardiff)
Usual STI type UK spec (AWD, ABS, PAS, Air Con etc etc)
Prodrive Performance Pack.
Prodrive Quickshift gear change.
Prodrive spring kit
P-WRC 18” OZ Gold Alloys with Goodyear Eagle F1s (only done a couple of thousand miles)
Front Carbon STI Strut Brace.
Momo handbrake lever.
Prodrive blue steel gear ****.
STI branded door entry Guards and 'Type UK' mats.
Kenwood 6 CD auto changer
Always run on RON98 fuel.
Spare set Subaru 17” (225) gold alloys.
Road tax till April 06.
Balance of manufacturer warranty till April 2007

The P-WRCs are also immaculate, no scuffs or scrapes.

I fitted the strut brace, quickshift, 18" and spring kit progressively after the PPP was fitted and I noticed an improvement everytime each bit was fitted.

I don't have any up to date pics at mo, but will post soon, but interestingly enough it looks like a MY04 STI Type UK in Blue Mica

18.5k (keeping my ear to the ground on autotrader I've noticed that there haven't been many MY03/04 Type UKs up for sale around my way over the last 2 months. What there was, this seems a fair starting point in terms of price).

In welcoming myself to the world of fatherhood, I would consider a Vauxhaull Zafira 1.6/1.8 (MY02/03) or similar P/X, plus cash.

I live in Cardiff btw.

Well you may be right, but if you have a look around on autotrader etc there are MY03/04 Cars around with PPP but no quickshift, spring kit, 18" P-WRCs (which are a grand a set) and all the other prodrive stuff and 2/3 times the mileage going for 17 to 18k i.e. not much less than what I am asking for.

Whether or not they can sell them is another thing.

Several years ago, when I had a MY01 WRX blobeye with 26k on the clock, I got offered 10.5/11k for it (privately and through other dealers). I part exd for 13k with a Subaru dealer and he put it on his forcourt at 15k and sold it within a couple of weeks.

That was when everyone in the world who new anything about scoobies was telling me that I should take the 11k, wipe the tears away and suck it up.

I'm in no hurry to sell it, if I can't cant get a reasonable price for it then out of principle alone and if I have to live on bread and jam for the next few years, I aint given it away for like 15k.

I may have to drop 500 quid or even a grand off it but it will go, but i've already had people say 14-15k to me and they are fricking dreaming at that price.

Scooby Do Me, sorry to see your leaving the marque. I too am looking at selling my MY04 STi, due to my 4th child on its way. Was down looking at a Zafira aswell. Anyway, so far the dealer could only find an offer of £13500 for mine, which is in similair spec-condition as yours. Obviously told them to go and *(8* it. Still early days yet and that my first dab at selling.
Good luck with urs mate!!

Very nice spec car, if the condition is mint then it doesnt sound that far off price wise. What you've got to remember is that there is always somebody who will pay top money for a truly mint car.

I live in essex and bought mine from Wales.

Good luck with the sale.

I admit that I may be on the upper limit on price for a private sale, but I've looked at Subaru's used car list from dealers all around the UK.

There is a handful of MY03/04 Type UK STIs on dealers forcourts some with alot more mileage than mine, without PPP, 18" P-WRC's (which are a grand a set) and the other prodrive stuff that I have on mine and they are generally up for sale at between 18.5 and 20k.

So for those of you who are being offered 13/14/15k need to tell the dealers to shove it as they are being extremly over greedy, for those people offering 15/16 k on private sales I think there is too much of this 'Buyers Market' being touted around.

I know it is quite a niche market, but at any time Countrywide there is probably no more than 6 to 8 mint examples of low mileage (for age) MY03/04 Type UK STIs fitted with all the prodrive goodies for sale and warranty intact - which isn't many.

I'm in no hurry to sell, I may have to drop 500 or so off my asking price, but if dealers are getting 18-20k for similar examples, then I'm definatly not going to be panicked into letting it go for 15/16k.

For the few people who look for quick sales and are letting there cars go for 2/3 grand less than they are worth, means that everyone looking to buy one thinks that its January sale time and that its a buyers market.

I would have been interested in this @18K if I hadn't already changed mine this year.

I would definatley tell your dealer to shove it.

From what I have seen on dealers forcourts he would have it on there for 18/19k at least - maybe a bit more.

CVC in Cardiff (where I bought mine) has a MY03 standard Type UK on the forecourt for 20k.

Knowing that, I will probably ask him how much he will give me for mine to buy it back.

Why is it that when every now and again someone, is looking for a quick sale on here and advertises their car for a couple of grand below what its worth, then everyone automatically thinks:

1/ The **** has falllen out of the second hand market.
2/ Everyones convinced its a buyers market.
3/ The depreciation of your average STI doesn't fare any better than a korean made motorised shopping trolley.
4/ 'Your better off dumping it cos you would have to pay me to take it away'.

If you went to a Subaru main dealer and asked for a 2004 Type UK with 11,000 miles on the clock and all the Prodrive aftermarket goodies, firstly you would be lucky if they had anything even close to it and secondly you'd be doing well to get any change out of 19-20k.

If you don't believe me then its about time all you bargain hunters had a look.

An offer is one thing, an insult is something else!

ScoobyDooMe I am with you on this one mate. I bought my 53 plate STI with PPP back in march. Paid top dollar for a low mileage minter!

Far too many people selling wanting quick sales.

We had our new arrival 2 weeks ago (baby Girl) and the misses is putting on the pressure to sell the car. I am trying desperately to think of ways to keep the Subaru as it is such a great car.

Dont be pressed into selling up mate, ive got 3 boys aged 13, 11 & 4. We all love the car, even the missus. The scooby can cope. Im only flogging mine as ive number 4 on the way and need more seats. Remember, you dont have to go rallying everyday.

My problem is not that the car can't cope, it is a 4 door saloon afterall and very practical.

My problem is that my missus needs to be able to drive now we are having a baby, becuase I work away during the week, I'm not around to do the driving. Also as she is under 25 and only just passed her test, I cannot get her insured on my car.

I do have provision on my insurance for any other driver, but the caveat is over 25s only, so I can't even do it on that basis.

Therefore, if I want to keep my car I have to buy another more suitable low insurance group etc car and even if I only spend a couple of grand, I still have to maintain it, and its all expense on top of everything else. Bottom line is I could afford it, but I'm not used to living on bread and jam into the bargain.

18k.

It is in mint condition and has very low mileage, I can send some pics if you send me a pm.

I am prepared to take an offer, as long as it sensible, so I'm not interested in trade or trade+ offers.

This is a genuine private sale for genuine private sale money.

The car is now on Autotrader for 18k, there are 4 pictures on the ad, front and rear side and front and rear.

I've had 3 e-mails so far, problem is they all want to P/X thier car (which is another perfomance car), plus cash. e.g. EVO7, Concours Focus RS, and a classic.

What is encouraging though, is that the ones that have talked figures, from what I can value, puts the deals offered at around the 17-18k mark.

I'm willing to take a P/X but need a low insurance group (6 maximum) five door car, e.g. ford fiesta 1.25 or 1.4 TDCI, focus 1.4 or deisel, e-mail me if interested, or if anyone has got something like this to sell, I would be very interested.

Please genuine offers only (i.e. no 14 or 14.5k trade offers).

If I can't get a decent price for it, I will keep it and get around my second car problem another way.

Looks nice in the pics, and competitively with the other private cars.

As I said before, I would have bought this if I hadn't just changed mine.
