Guess this doesn't help you much but my car looks almost identicle to your car as it was standard.

A chap down the road from me has a bugeye in the slightly darker colour to our cars and you put the two together and the classic has much more road "Presence" to the bugeye.

IMHO the classic shape looks like its there to do the business. I wouldn't swap mine for a bugeye but thats just me

Sonic,

Firstly a BTTT for a really tidy looking car.

Next I`m afraid that I`m going to do a little thread hijacking i`m afraid. I noticed that you`ve fitted the following mods:

DBA Gold Long Life front Discs (drilled & grooved)
Ferrodo DS2500 Front Pads
Braided front Brake Lines
DOT 4 Fluid

Would you mind giving me a quick review of this set up as I`m looking at doing exactly the same to my RB5.

Cheers.

I agree with EddScott the Classic Impreza looks far better than the Bugeye model, I have a 1997 Jap Import WRX and wouldn't change it for a Bugeye Impreza anyday

You may find people reluctant to give you a rough price. Most people looking (like myself) are interested in buying one so giving you a selling price is a bit silly. Why don't you work out how much you would get for the mods if you sold them on this forum and work out how much you would get for your standard motor. Add them together, that'll give you a ball park figure. Then work out how much your willing to knock off for the fact that you will not have to spend the time removing the bits etc.
Let me know how much your selling it for when you are ready.

I think the quickest and most effective way of getting a sale would be to get the 22B wing off it, and put a STi4 back on. Set the car off a treat it would, and probably add £££'s.
Now if you could only find someone else with a 74F mid level who would be prepared to swop, you'd be laughing....hmmmm

Best o'luck with the sale, upgrading to a bugeye though!! How does that work

Thats one sweet Scooby.

Bearing in mind MY00 PPP set me back 12.5k surely with your mods you would be looking at 13.5k.

Im no car expert so that figure to everyone else is probably way out but id gladly pay 13.5.

If at all you do sell and decide to split some bits I would be interested in your spare alloy (PD7) one of mine has been kerbed by previous owner plus other bits. Let me know

Good Luck & Bttt ;-)

but this doesn't have PPP?
But it does have.....
AE800 ECU
Magnex Twin Dump Decat DP
Magnex Resonated Decat Centre
Scorpion Tuner 5 BB
ITG Panel Filter
STi Intercooler
Samco Turbo Hoses

Which, unless I am mistaken will produce at least the same, if not more power than PPP.
Plus with a car of this age, warranty isn't an argument 'for', as it has since expired anyway.
Plus, PPP residuals are not what they once were, so the power mods that Sonic has fitted as just as good if not better than PPP since they are customised for power/sound etc without having to compensate for emissions/warranty etc etc like the PPP does.

If my STI 8 wasn't a new car with 3 years warranty, I certainly wouldn't buy the Prodrive bits. For much less cash, I'd buy Blitz exhaust with full de-cat and get an Ecutek remap, which would produce more power and much better sound.

BTTT for ya Sonic, and good luck mate!

I am aware of the differences. My point is a car with PPP usually fetches more, however a car with normal mods doesn't.

I wasn't trying to "make you aware of the differences" Phil, I was simply saying that IMO, PPP is desirable if the car is 1 or 2 years old, due to warranty reasons etc.

Once a car reaches 4 years old (like Sonic's), I'd rather customised power mods, since warranty is no longer an issue, not to mention more power can be achieved since reliability parameters are not such an important issue.

The PPP is designed with a considerable safety margin in order to warranty the modifications.
If you retro fit your own "PPP" then you can reduce the safety margin, hence releasing more power with nicer exhaust note etc whilst still maintaining reliability and safety. (if done right)

Anyway, it used to be the case that PPP on a car tended to add approx £1000 to the residuals. This is no longer the case I'm afraid, and you won't find a great deal of difference in price between a personally modded car and a PPP'd one these days.

My car is 10 months old, and although it is advertised for sale, if I keep it, I am sorely tempted to ditch the PPP and fit my own choice of parts!
