***96 Classic WRX STI breaking White***
Hi guys!!
Im breaking my Impreza WRX STI Version 2 (first full production STI). I bought this car as my track car project for 2010 and then weeks later came across my type R and decided to go for that instead. I started breaking this ages ago but have only been selling a few bits and pieces just by word of mouth. Its still in good condition but now its time to let it go.
To start with, I was planning on tracking it so took the engine apart for inspection and done the following;
Turbo checked for play, none
Turbo actuator has slight play/wear
Engine strip + block/cylinder walls checked (still had the cross hatch honed marks on them
)
LH Cylinder head de-coke.
RH Cylinder head de-coke.
16 cam follower shims checked for tolerance
New valve stem oil seals fitted.
Valves cleaned, re-seated and fitted.
Oil ways flushed on both heads.
Skim both cylinder heads. (8 thou each)
Engine block faces honed.
STI forged pistons installed
No. 2 and No. 3 big end bearings checked and were seen to be spot on
Inlet manifold casting rags polished away.
Oil pick up pipe flushed
Oil sump flushed
Oil pump removed, checked, cleaned and refitted
Water pump removed, checked cleaned and refitted.
Cambelt and idler pullies checked.
Flywheel honed for clutch plate.
Clutch cleaned de-coked
Engine rebuilt back up with Millars engine assembly lube
LOADS of receipts from previous services from Subaru garages!!
Once I got the engine up and running it was perfect and ran with no rattles, smoke or oil pressure issues. A few days later along came the type R and I had to have that!!
This WRX STI was then put round the back of the house and eh
forgotten about. The car is still spot on, it just looks a bit neglected now.

Thats all the bits stripped of it from the above list now!!
This is how it looks!! Will be a rolling shell, all I need is 2 more space savers!! Anyone got any lying around?????
