The 27C1028 is the simple and most cost effective upgrade for those with standard or mild modifications to their vehicle. This solution was used by Subaru and Prodrive to add Group'N' and Prodrive Performance Packs to a Standard Road Car. The chip plugs into a spare location within the 1993 - 1996 ECU and emulates the standard ECU operation. The performance maps within this code are then modified. It unlocks greater performance with modifications made to fuel/ignition maps, boost target map, boost control map, boost limit values and speed limit values. Expected Performance increase is 30-50BHP depending on supporting modifications.
This solution does not over-ride ECU control as per some other Chip upgrades or piggy back electronic controllers. But is a complete solution and retains all the standard ECU safety features `and self diagnosis

as biggs said its just plug and play it adapts your original ecu's settings without over-riding them so if you ever want to remove the chip and go back standard you can by simply taking the chip out of the ecu

hi mate after one, speaking to polar performance guy through ebay. im after one that will be ok with a fmic, air filter, and decat exhaust.

it does both only difference is the uk versions come with the chip socket pre soldered onto the ecu but japs dont hence getting the socket aswell as the chip

you can buy them direct from Scott on his polar performance ebay site for £95 plus £3.50 delivery -
I reckon second hand one ll make £60-70 on winning bid cos I had been looking - I ended up buying one for £95 brand spanking new from Polar's ebay y shop!
