These blocks are currently harder to come by than the earlier closed deck blocks, and it is aledged that they are stronger giving the best of both worlds, in that it is made with the more homogeneous and better quality alloys of die casting with the addition of a semi-closed deck to prevent 'bore walk' at high revs/boost.
It also has extra crankcase breathers...which is a bit different
