It woulden't actually be that bad if the Thames bust it's banks and flooded London, at least the rest of the country might have a chance of getting something.

On a more serious note, the government is now pouring in money to the affected areas.

Yet there are still folk in Doncaster struggling to do something to houses ruined in the floods in Doncaster and Hull three years ago..and they haven't received one penny.

And the floods along the east coast before Christmas are now quietly forgotten. A village near me was devastated, yet nothing is being done for them.

we cant cope with this constant wetness. it makes us important people upset and ruins our ornamental ponds and fountains in our front garden :mad:

Please spend a moment to think of the devastation that our yummy mummy's have to endure when doing the school run in our 6ft high Ranger rovers and X5's. I saw one mother actually get some water on her hunters the other day and poor little Giles was devastated to see his cherub like curls get messy in the abnormal wind conditions.

Makes me sick. The politicians didn't give a flying fcuk until Berkshire and Surrey got hit and now "Money is no object". Like you say, some people in Hull and South Yorkshire are still trying to sort out the mess from 3 years ago, and recent flooding along the Humber and Ouse wiped out villages, but they get f.a help. If not already, somebody needs to take one of these jokers to task on TV as the now concerned politicians tour the affected areas and ask them why they are only taking an interest now?

As much as I think Salmond is a joke, I'd say good luck to Scotland if they go independent; at least they might have people running their country who know the place exists North of Watford.

I can't stand the political flood tourism, all the political leaders are at it, rubber necking in the flood stricken communities to score some political points. Miliband again shows that he is out of his depth, literally!! :lol1:

As I said, the north and the east coast have now been forgotten. There are still people in Doncaster and Hull who aren't yet back in their homes after the flooding THREE YEARS ago...they didn't get one penny from the government!

And the flood barriers at Boston? Sometime in the future, maybe......

According to my parents...you could sail large boats up the River Severn past Bewdley. Over the past 30+ years it silted up so bad that only canoes can get up there without grounding and in summer it is shallow enough to walk across.

Locals have always said it should be dredged - bar the fishing/wildlife nutters. Consequentally it floods its banks almost every year. The buildings there are over 100 years old and never used to flood (otherwise they wouldn't have been built there ;) ).

IN more recent years they erected some removable flood barriers...Heath Robinson springs to mind; the cost of erecting, maintaining and storing over a long term period these barriers MUST outweigh the costs of dredging. :cuckoo:
