If you build a big enough shed, you can charge them £40 a night to sleep in it. ;)

That would be plain wrong. £20 a night is reasonable.

f1_fan 31 December 2013 02:39 PM

I presume as this article is in the Daily Mail we aren't taking it remotely seriously btw :thumb:

Do you know what a work ethic actually is? It's work for its own sake not because you are hungry or otherwise made precarious.

Do you work for its own sake?

It pains me but I'll probably do that soon. I don't believe property is inherently a ladder though, it's not a market that can inflate forever. Do I think that by buying a terrace on skid-row now, that I'll be living in a mansion in 20 year just by price inflation? Not at all!

dpb 31 December 2013 05:51 PM

No, and neither does anyone else outside your utopian bubble

Well then by that questionable definition, very few people have a real work ethic as most people work to earn a wage.

You might as well say the prisoners in Auschwitz has a 'work ethic' because if they didn't work hard they would be liquidated.

You appear to be confused, the definition you gave was 'work for its own sake not because you are hungry or otherwise made precarious'. Now I would have said being liquidated if you don't work is pretty precarious.

It's only a more extreme form of what is essential to Capitalism. You don't eat and you don't have shelter without a wage, you would eventually die.

And as such my point still stands. By your definition no body has a work ethic as those who work do so to provide food/shelter and those who don't work have no work ethic by default.

Some people claim to enjoy work, make it a vocation.

alcazar 31 December 2013 07:05 PM

I see Cameron's promise to limit the numbers entering came to exactly what I said it would: nothing!

Come one, come all.....Lying Labour have opened the floodgates.

Dingdongler 31 December 2013 07:25 PM

Has TDW changed the title of the thread because he wasn't getting enough attention??:lol1:
