I called my insurance company this morning (Citroen Insurance) and asked for a quote to add the Mrs to the insurance. Strangely, they said that my premium would now be £15 cheaper for the rest of the year, about 8 months. How does this work? I was expecting to pay more cash, especially if they had seen her driving.

Something to do with sharing the driving I believe! My dad's last policy was cheaper with my mum on it who hasn't driven for 25 years!!! :D

Cheers for that. Still not going to let her drive it though. Maybe if she's really nice.

I think it's due to adding a woman, because they are accepted as a lower risk. Adding the wife saves me nearly £200 and she never drives it. Too fast and scary

i dont have a wife but would it do the same if i added my girlfriend to my insurance?

I'm not married either. As long as you live at the same address it works out cheaper.

On my previous policy I added my girlfriend (a learner with a provisional licence) and there was no extra cost!
Was told my premium would be reduced when she passed her test!Crazy if U ask me...

I hope this isn't a bad thing, posting this on two threads :-

Get this, my wife is Turkish, and has been in the country for 8 months. OK, I don't have a Scooby..yet, it's a Rover 216GSi, but I was getting on average a £50 reduction putting her on my insurance as a second driver on a provisional licence (most companies won't take the international licence option)...

I'll post this again then ;)
I added my parent's to my policy (same address) but rather than lowering the premium it went up £120 a year!!!
