Add rear ABR

hi been looking for information on adding a rear ARB to my 03 GX sport but not much help really,
i have found this on demon-tweaks. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfor...-bar-link-65mm

would this be all i need to add one and is 65mm right or is that just the thickness of the bar.

thanks lee

come on there must be someone that can tell me lol :brickwall

Your link you have posted is for the droplinks rather than the actual rear anti roll bar. As you have a GX itd be worth investigating the size of your current bar. You could get an STI bar as a cheap upgrade both front and rear for the same money as an aftermarket rear

This is the bar

ok thanks as far as i know the Gx doesn't come standard with a rear ARB, so are you saying to look for the standard sti bars rather then the whiteline ones?

Gambit 23 November 2013 09:51 AM

Yep thatd be the cheapest upgrade. If your car doesnt come with a rear bar then you need to see if the mounting brackets are there for it also.

Start googling an 03 sti rear anti roll bar images on how its fitted then go look around your own car

hi is the right thing to look for, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Impreza-ST...item2331d605be

its off a 2005 JDM sti

ditchmyster 25 November 2013 10:26 PM

No, it's a bit more complicated than that as you don't have anything to mount it to, you have to change just about everything at the back and fit upper mounting brackets as well.

leej23 25 November 2013 10:29 PM

damn, thought i could just bolt one on never mind, probs not worth doing then if thats the case,
just want to stop the bouncing around feels like the cars is floating all over the road lol :wall:

ditchmyster 25 November 2013 10:33 PM

Ask on Impreza sport forum, i'm not 100% on what exactly needs to be done, but they will know.

But I am 100% you can't just bolt one on.

leej23 25 November 2013 10:34 PM

ok didn't now there was a sport only forum but cheers, if all else fails what would a front and rear strut brace do to help it.

ditchmyster 25 November 2013 10:36 PM

No not really as it's a different movement you want to control.

The arb is do-able, if you can be arsed, I think it's better to fit stiffer springs and enjoy the tail out action.:D

leej23 25 November 2013 10:37 PM

ok cheers will ask around on a sport forum

swaynie 26 November 2013 01:15 AM

The sport forum is closed. On the classic you could use a turbo rear arb but no idea on newage. Best way is to check bolt holes were the turbo ones mount to and check your chasis.

Gambit 27 November 2013 12:32 PM

and looking at this thread
https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...bar-links.html

it shows pic of rear of GX, you would also need to replace rear arms as there is no mounting points for the droplinks

so stiffer springs is the easiest solution for you
