Got a feeling mines to high,

If your mates chip is running at 10 degrees (ie below ambient) he had better warm it up or he is going to have condensation problems! He is either talking b0ll0cks or his computers thermistor is not very accurate.

P4's run cooler than Athlons. I have an Athlon 1800+ which runs at 36 idling and up to 41 under full load.

What heatsink do you have?
Are there any case fans?

HHxx 24 May 2002 09:57 AM

10  Liquid Cooling?

Both my cpus, p3 - 1ghz on full load hits 45°C

Yours sounds fine to me.

My 1.3Ghz P4 idles at 36c, 39 when being "stressed"

My 1700+ runs at 46/47, has hit 51 but this is withing the recommended range, mates Duron 1000 runs at 60C+ and is unreliable at that temp, mine seems ok but I may get a better Hs/F

Thought so my 1000 got to 66 once lol fan was working at 1000rmp

doh

I thought this was ok

Cheers

How do you check what temperature your CPU is running at?
Keep having the old Blue screen of death, think it is the CPU over cooking.

suba 24 May 2002 11:28 AM

newer intel CPUs (i suspose includes P4) will not burn itself out, for example if the CPU fan is faulty and you didnt know about it and keep using the PC.

for amd CPUs, it will just fry it! so NEVER run a amd CPUs without a heatsink/fan!!!

super_si 24 May 2002 11:38 AM

its running at 40 ish had n error this morning Vcore Voltage 1.44 or something! saying its to low

super_si 24 May 2002 11:41 AM

Just noticed trotty! ! we've seen ya

Mr Footlong 24 May 2002 02:26 PM

Yeah, the P4's have good speed throttling, which very quickly senses dangerous temparature increases and drops the CPU performance right down accordingly.

For a graphic demo of this in action download the video from the following !

Youll need DivX but its on there to download
