GT3582R

Has anyone any experience with this turbo
APT GT3582R standard location non rotated. 76mm inlet

Ive had it on my classic which has had a 2.5 conversion and supporting mods, but it seems to be laggy. It doesnt really boost until 4000rpm which is great for motorways as i can cruise at 80mph with no boost. I fitted a Harvey uppipe which i thought might help as i knew it would be kinda laggy for it being such a big turbo.
Ive not had it dyno`d yet but the car is around 400bhp (running 1.7Bar) and pulls really well, its just the lag how do i improve it or what can be done to make it alittle more quicker on the spool.

Drop down a gear before giving it the beans.

I'm not sure but 1.7bar isn't that excessive for wot it's running not only that but after you fit the up pipe did u have the map tweaked

chasey 14 November 2013 07:37 PM

Yeah it was mapped with the up pipe on, it's fast just not off the line. 1.7bar was max boost as the block isn't pinned. I was thinking about AVCS heads but it's a lot off effort and money for a few hundred rpm. Didn't know if a billet wheel would improve it, or selling it and get a MD T or V.

The turbo is too big for a 400bhp car. You need the smallest turbo capable of meeting your power goal. Just sell it and go with a 321t or sc series turbo.

A standard position GT35 is a poor turbo and never really works well, as mentioned above go for something tried and tested :)

I'm running a spec d Sti with a forged block with an mdx321v !! Standard top mount at 1.4 bar makes 428 bhp

Gt35 is to big for what you want Jim. An sc46 would go well on a built 2.5. If your looking for about 400 horses then maybe an sc42 would be a good bet. If I were you though I'd go mdx321t, mapped at 1.7b and you should see 440-450bhp

As above guys said,MDX321T or V should be better option, standard location GT35R will never work as rotated 35R

Jura, that car of yours is STRONG man! well done.

I have a Blouch Dominator 5 turbo (bolt on GT35R) . What's this? Why does it say that in brackets? I bought the car from a friend 2 months ago....

Thanks there

Blouch Dominator 5.0XT-R is probably based on 35R,I would suspect this turbo must be used only with external wastegate(internal wastegate is missing)

What I've seen those turbo on few US cars, they usually making 420-450WHP,which is around 550bhp over here

I would go everytime with T or V over this turbo,if its on 2.5L and have AVCS then SC46 will be good too there
