new wheel colour

so as i said i was going to do last week i have finally resprayed my wheels on my sport
i hope you all like the colour i have chosen< i know some of you do not like bright wheels on a road car but im quite happy with the end results :)

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psc07f2445.jpg
this is what it looked like after a recent clean

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7dd51340.jpg

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7417adbb.jpg
first i took the wheels off and had a look at what state they are really in and found that they had been previously sprayed (badly and only the fronts) from gun metal greay to gloss black

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f904f97.jpg

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psc9ea3e57.jpg

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps674fa809.jpg
i then cleaned and rubbed them down

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps064a392b.jpg
primered them all over

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psbea4a5ef.jpg
masked and sprayed them

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9e670b78.jpg
peeled off the tape

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...pse2bd9847.jpg
whacked them back on after they had dryed

http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psabcf7e3a.jpg
and there we have it. i think the car has enough black on it to work with the red.
hope you all like it.

you got it nicely, I got called an epic c-u-n-t over one sticker LOL :cuckoo:

Trinity 05 November 2013 02:11 PM

I reckon a de-sticker, lowered, colour code the handles, and it would look even smarter on those red wheels ...each to their own en all that, but whatever you do, please rid the poor little thing of those Lexus lights!

legacy_gtb 05 November 2013 02:15 PM

Yeah, dont worry, thats just tubby ...... hes the scoobynet resident c**t!

he used to have his own padded room called fight club where he could troll unsuspecting passers by and get away with it. Now thats gone unfortunately he spends more time out here trolling through innocent posts.

Rise above, he knows hes a c**t, we know hes a c**t, hes happy being a c**t and we must be getting pretty good at ignoring the fact that hes a c**t.

DieHardDonkey 05 November 2013 02:16 PM

i did see that going on but thort it best to stay out of it. i do like to hear other peoples opinions on what i have done but each to their own i say, if it makes you happy you should go for it regardless of what anybody says.

DieHardDonkey 05 November 2013 02:19 PM

i like the idea of colour coordinating the door handles and funny you should mention lowering it as i have a 40mm kit coming (when ever it arrives) and am hoping to get it done this weekend. what lights do you suggest going with instead of the lexus ones that are in it already?

scooby kid 05 November 2013 02:23 PM

good on you, just take your times with things, heres a pic of my sport when i was 18,

grey_boy 05 November 2013 02:25 PM

Looks rad man...sweet job

legacy_gtb 05 November 2013 02:26 PM

Standard rear lights look better than anything bud.

And just so you know, 40mm drop will properly screw up the handling. Fine for show, no for go! :-)

lovley clean motor that mate, properly cool

DieHardDonkey 05 November 2013 02:31 PM

thank guys glad its going down well. i had an incling it wud wreck the handling so im gunna hang onto the old springs and dampers and if it does my head in too much ill swap them back :-)

Yeah standard STI rear lights, I think the jdm ones so you get red and white, would match your car.

If it was me, id colour code the rear spoiler, door handles and anything else that can be done (id do everything inc bumper etc), if you really want some black, keep the lower spoilers/sills black so it looks like a lower line kit, would look pretty smooth then, but just my opinion...

Ah i did the lowering springs when I was younger, destryoed the handling on my Golf and made it ride like a bag on nails..but its all money at the end of the day so can understand just going for springs, however coilovers are coming cheaper these days

scooby kid 05 November 2013 02:41 PM

if your doing it on the cheap. fit a set of sti springs, that will drop it around 25mm of sport height and improve handling. and pick them up for £20 no lol

heres a pic of my other sport when i was 19 with sti springs fitted, that gives you an idea

Says the guy with stickers on his car?

The lad is young and having a go, cant knock him for that.

DieHardDonkey 05 November 2013 02:55 PM

thats brilliant advice thanks lads, i managed to pick up 4 complete shocks in goos nick and all lowered by 40mm from jdmotorsports ltd on here for a very reasonable £60 but i am still waiting on delivery from the beginning of september. they are SUPPOST to be here today/tomorrow.... i still itching to get it right down on the deck but if does my head in then i will definatly find some sti springs and do it that way.

i'd be asking for my money back by now! if your wanting to get it on the deck, then yes you will destroy the handling, but you will definitely need to coilovers to retain any form of basic handling!

Horrible, just horrible. Don't like that at all. I know you think it looks good now, but in 10 years time, you will look back at this and think 'What the hell was I thinking?'.

I can handle the wheels and at a push, the stickers but red brake drums?
Really? :wonder:
If you are trying to make it look like a turbo, why advertise the fact that it has drum brakes?

Honestly, that will look 100 times better if you put it back to stock. :thumb:

Respect for the effort you have gone to but you have ruined a perfectly good motor.

he seems like a genuine guy and is quite happy to refund me but as they are cheap and suppost to be on there way finally i just gunna trust him for the time being. thanks for the advice, i have just had a look at some coilovers and they are (at the moment) way above my budget. so i will have to suffer for the time being and see how i get on and if its a pain i will go for the sti spring option.

DieHardDonkey 05 November 2013 03:17 PM

never mind, you cant please everyone and i guess you also learn from your mistakes.

Some are stupid enough to believe the garage pics though.
